History
Black Shields was founded during the height of the Vanduul War, a brutal conflict that saw humanity pushed to the brink of extinction. As the war raged on, a group of individuals from various walks of life came together with a common goal: to protect humanity from the ruthless Vanduul threat and to ensure that the mistakes of the past were never repeated.
Our efforts did not go unnoticed. As the war progressed, Black Shields quickly gained a reputation as a highly skilled and effective organization. We took on a variety of missions, from protecting transport convoys to engaging in direct combat with Vanduul forces.
As Black Shields continued to grow, we began to focus more heavily on space combat, developing advanced tactics and technologies that gave us an edge in even the toughest battles. We established a base of operations on the planet Crusader in the Stanton system, which served as a hub for our operations and a training ground for new recruits.
Despite being formed during a time of war, Black Shields has continued to thrive in the years since. Today, Black Shields has become an independent and competitive organization, expanding beyond our military operations to include a robust industrial department. This has enabled us to be self-sufficient in the challenging and dangerous frontier of the Stanton system. Additionally, we have established ourselves as a respected and feared organization, and our members are drawn from all corners of the galaxy.
Despite our competitive nature, Black Shields maintains strong bonds of brotherhood and camaraderie among our members. We understand that our strength lies not only in our individual skills but in our ability to work together towards a common goal.
Manifesto
Black Shields is a community of individuals who come together to play games and to accomplish awesome things together. Our members come from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, we have members from all over North America and to a lesser degree, other continents.
Our vision is to create a place where like-minded individuals can come together and share their passion for Star Citizen and gaming in general. We strive to create a community that is tightly bonded and supportive, where members can learn from one another and grow together. Additionally, whether it’s in PvP or in PvE, we aim to be highly flexible with our level of focus and seriousness such that when the situation calls for it, we can very quickly go from fun and laid-back to dialed-in and competitive in an instant.
In pursuit of this vision, we are committed to upholding the values of respect, camaraderie, and excellence. We believe that by embodying these values, we can create a culture where members can have fun and play to their best abilities.
We invite those who share in our vision and values to join us on this journey. Together, we can build a community that is greater than the sum of its parts, and achieve great things in the Verse’ and other games.
Charter
1. All members must be 18+ years old. Specific exceptions may be made for cases in which a parent brings their child into the organization.
2. No cheating or exploiting is allowed. Members found to be breaking this rule will be removed and reported as appropriate.
3. Avoid political, social, religious, or any other controversial commentary. Please go to a politically or socially focused discord, website, or forum if you desire to have in-depth discussions regarding IRL topics such as these.
4. Internally, members will respect each other. Targeted insults and disrespect for someone’s sex, gender, race, or religion, etc, etc. are not allowed. Externally, the default will be to represent the organization in a positive and productive manner.
5. No trade ganking, breaking honorable terms (pre-arranged 1v1’s will be honored, etc).
6. Members are expected to be active on the organization’s Discord with a working mic while playing. Open mic is allowed but members will be expected to maintain excellent open mic etiquette (have a quiet room, etc.). If this is not a possibility for you, please use push to talk.
7. Please use the designated NSFW channel when posting NSFW links, videos, or images.
8. Streaming or recording is allowed but excellent etiquette will be expected. Let everyone know you’re streaming, protect organization info, and don’t annoy everyone trying to get more viewers. Your content is not the priority.
9. All members are expected to maintain a general level of maturity. No raging, screaming, or griefing friendlies, etc.
10. As a member of the Black Shields, you will be expected to play with the organization as your primary organization. Members felt to be consistently spending the majority of their time in Star Citizen with other groups may bring their friends into the organization or they will be asked to leave.
11. Inactive members may be kicked after an extended period of inactivity unless the organization is otherwise notified of the leave. They may remain in Discord with the inactive Discord role.
