History
The Crimson Vanguard traces its roots to the aftermath of the Battle of Vega II (2945).
Though the UEE ultimately repelled the Vanduul attack, the damage left behind told a different story: Cities scarred, families displaced, and frontier worlds reminded how thin the line of protection truly was.
Many who fought there completed their service and were honorably discharged. Yet retirement felt premature. They had seen what happens when the frontier stands alone, and they weren’t willing to leave humanity’s edge unguarded.
So a new group formed, not in defiance of the UEE, but in support of the citizens living beyond its day-to-day reach. A privately organized defense force, built by veterans committed to ensuring no settlement would again face the threat of invasion without ready help.
Donning crimson and black in remembrance of Aremis, its dust, its fires, and the resolve forged there, The Crimson Vanguard now operates as an independent protective force. Stationed across Stanton and watching the approach toward Pyro, the Vanguard stands ready to intervene where official patrol routes thin and danger gathers.
Manifesto
We are veterans of humanity’s battles, bound by those who stood beside us when the sky burned over Vega II.
We do not serve politics.
We serve humanity, especially those living where the UEE’s reach grows thin.
We hold the line against the Vanduul, against raiders and predators, against anyone who seeks to break what others have built.
We protect civilians.
We finish what we start.
We stand disciplined, trained, and ready, because we have seen what happens when no one stands watch.
We answer threats with strength, and strength with restraint.
We are independent, but not lawless.
We fight with purpose, not cruelty.
We never fire on the innocent.
We never abandon those who rely on us.
We hold the line, together.

Charter
1. Purpose
The Crimson Vanguard exists to protect humanity’s frontier from hostile forces, criminal threats, and incursions where formal authority is limited or absent.

2. Conduct
Members of The Cimson Vanguard will:
- Uphold discipline and respect during operations
- Prioritize civilian safety and welfare
- Use force when needed, not with malice
- Act honorably toward allies and neutrals
- Maintain professional comms during missions
- Carry themselves as veterans of a greater cause
We do not engage in piracy, extortion, or the targeting of civilians.
We do not stand idle when lives are in danger.
Frontier is not lawless, not while we hold the line.

3. Chain of Command
- Combat and security operations follow a clear chain of command
- Orders given in the field are binding for mission cohesion
- Outside combat, structure relaxes
- Leaders serve the unit, not the other way around
Members may challenge ideas before deployment, never in battle unless safety demands it.

4. Recruitment & Expectations
- All backgrounds welcome; character and reliability come first
- Training and improvement are ongoing, we grow our own
- Inactivity without notice may result in removal during wartime cycles
- Entry is earned by conduct, teamwork, and integrity, not by titles, connections or wealth

5. Rules of Engagement
The Vanguard abides by the following ROE:
- Defensive force first; decisive force when required
- No targeting civilians or medical craft
- No friendly-fire
- Surrendered enemies are not to be executed
We fight clean, even when the frontier doesn’t.

6. Contracts & Operations
We accept work aligned with defending life, securing trade, and stabilizing frontier systems
We will not take contracts against civilians or humanitarian operations
Member side-contracts allowed if they do not conflict with Vanguard’s interests
Command reserves the right to refuse contracts that violate our code
