Children of God / COG

Children of God was founded in 2004 as a Halo PC clan. Reaching a peak of about 200 members by the end of 2006/beginning of 2007, we were going strong, and starting to branch out into other games, when in December of 2008, our main forums were hacked, deleted one sub forum at a time, and obliterated for the amusement of a no name hacker with a grudge against Christianity it seems.

After that, things started to falter for us. We lost contact with a lot of our members at that point, and after some work, we pulled together what we had left. We never really have recovered from that point though.

Now, 5 years later, our growth is at a standstill, bringing in no more than 1 or 2 people a year. Many of our members have moved on in life, going to college, starting families, or moving to console gaming with other crowds. At present, we only have between 6-10 active people on our teamspeak server, with maybe 5-10 others who will pop on once in a while to say hi.

We would like to see that change. We once had a thriving community, with members from all over the world, from ages 11-50, from all walks of life, whether they were Christian, Atheist, Fox News viewers, Obama Supporters, or anything in between. We have attempted to recruit new blood into our community through a number of games, and thus far, our success rate is not worthy of mention.

}CoG{ is currently a small group, and if you are more comfortable with smaller guilds rather than huge ones, maybe this is the right place for you. Our members play a number of games, the most popular currently being Guild Wars 2, Lord of the Rings Online, Minecraft, and League of Legends. A couple also dabble in Star Wars: The Old Republic from time to time as well, not to mention Star Trek Online. And obviously, a good portion of our current active members are gearing up for Star Citizen. We play many, many different things though, too many to mention.

As said before, we are a Christian community, but we are a lot more relaxed community. Swearing and the like are not tolerated, but if you do slip up, you will not be strung up for it. We are all human after all. Identifying with the Christian faith is not a requirement to join us, and we do not push our beliefs on anyone. Our goal has always been to simply provide a safe environment for people of all ages to enjoy the games they like with others of like mind. We have fun, joke around, pick on one another, and watch movies together…we just have a good time with the free time we have.
