History of Damocles

  • 2911: Jack Aubrey and Avery Clark are born on the terraformed planet Magnus II ( Borea )
  • 2912: Borea gets under the direct militiary controle of the UEE. Political oppression and a harsh aristocratic gouverment rules the day
  • 2913: Joe Daniels is born on panet Kilian VI ( Osha )
  • 2919: Jack saves Avery`s life after the explosion of a damaged terraforming generator. A strong friendship grows between them.
  • 2921: The Citizens of Borea are starting to rebel against the existing regime and for an independent Magnus. They call themselves “Voice of Borea”.
  • 2930: Joe Daniels joins the UEE Militiary forces.
  • 2931: Jack and Avery`s parents are getting killed, while the UEE tries to beat the rebelion down. Jack and Avery are joining “Voice of Borea”. Avery turns out to be a great leader and an inspirational character for others. He`s taking over the leadership of “Voice of Borea” shortly.
  • 2933: Joe Daniels finishes the academy with great success. His superior strategical knowledge grants him the opportunity to work on the Bengal Carrier “Fist of Terra”. There first mission is to finish the rebellion on Borea once and for all.
  • 2934: An assassinaton attempt on the gouverment of Borea failed, however the “Voice of Borea” didn`t profess themselves. The “Voice of Borea” is growing in numbers and the UEE runs out of ideas how to stop this.
  • 2936: “Voice of Borea” wins the battle at Bandawai Shipyards and are now able to produce there own spacecrafts, not knowing that they run into a trap. “Voice of Borea” centers all there forces and HQ in the shipyard. They start to expose themselves to much, making hard strikes against the UEE groundforces. To reinforce the sector, Joe Daniels has been granted to command his own ship, an Idris Corvette called “Kronos”.
  • 2938: The UEE starts it`s final strike on the rebel forces. With the sabotaged constructionparts, Commander Daniels ordered before leaving the shipyard to the rebels, “Voice of Borea” looses many pilots while the ships malfunction. Daniels received orders from the UEE Highcommand itself, to massacre the whole planet, serving as an example for other rebelling planets. He rejects the command and works with the rebel leaders together, to evacuate as many people as they can. The “Kronos” escorts the transports to the next jumppoint while defending it from the “Fist of Terra”. They manage to flee in the last second, seeing the planet burn under the orbital barrage from the “Fist of Terra”. Avery offers Joe to flee with them, but he declines. They are still traitors as he said, and deserve to get treated as such.
  • 2939: The crew of the “Kronos” is waiting for there execution. A well organized boarding party breaks into the “Hamardi”-Prison and frees the crew of ten man. It turns out that the intrudors are former members of the “Voice of Magnus”, calling themselves now “Damocles”. They manage to flee with the “Kronos”. Joe finally joins Damocles, realizing that the existing regime is corrupted, false and not able to defend there people properly. For maximal efficiency and safety, “Damocles” puts there HQ into space, to behave like a nomadic fleet and a mobile base, so they get harder tracked by the enemy. Joe Daniels worked out a fleet-route, leading through the whole galaxy called the “Road to Home”-Protocole. Avery, now know as “Ikarus” starts to split the galaxy into four quadrants, and handing everyone of his leading heads one over, to guard and defent them from alien forces or even the UEE itself if needed
  • 2942: After dissappearing for three years, “Damocles” returns fully armed and well organized… .

Manifesto

We are Damocles !

Damocles isn`t only a description for a group of people, it`s an idea. We will be there, where the UEE is not, we will be the first and last line of defense in the darkest hours of humanity. Keep in mind that we are allways on the edge. Not everyone likes our methods, or the way we work, but we will never hesitate to even use the most feared technologies and uncommon strategys to defeat our enemys.

Our prime intention is to defend the standart citizen from the dangers outthere, or even from themselves.
The UEE isn`t capable of guarding there own theritories anymore. It`s not a secret that we work far beyond the restrictions of law and that`s why we are everytime on the move, or at least some of us. To ensure functionality and organization in such a chaos we worked out a great concept.

The four Quadrants

Ikarus splitted the whole galaxy in three Quadrants: Alpha, Beta and Delta. The quadrants stands under the direct control of a so called “Quadrant Guard” and his subordinates. Every single quadrant has it`s own purpose in the big picture we form together.

  • The Alpha Quadrant: The Alpha Quadrant is under the controle of Ikarus himself, he and his subordinates are forming the main militiary strength of “Damocles” and work as “Operators”. There job is to fight constantly against the Vanduul and defend the border colonys, to increase the fighting skills and work new strategies out.
  • The Beta Quadrant: The Beta Quadrant is under the controle of Jack Aubrey, there job is the one of an “Explorator” and developing of new technologies. The majority of our spys and intelligence is set up there aswell, providing “Damocles” with a constant news feed and even working in Xi`An territory.
  • The Delta Quadrant: The Delta Quadrant builds the main financial recource of “Damocles”, recruiting our “Economists”. Ace Avaazzeen manages the income and maintains the contact to our Banu merchants. Without them, “Damocles” could never exist in such a scale.

Every “Quadrant Guard” has the same weight in decisions. “Damocles” solves problem in democratic ways.

The Homefleet

What is the homefleet ?

  • The Homefleet has been introduced at the very first beginnings of “Damocles”, when they started a nomadic existence. “Damocles” has been inspired by the Vanduul lifestyle, having no homeworld but a fleet of ship replacing it. With the Kronos at the front, the whole fleet consists of different ships flying through every quadrant and acting as the mobile HQ, gathering the whole data a quadrant achieved during a whole cyclus. Imagine a clock, with the center of it as the galaxy`s middlepoint and the tip of the pointer as the homefleet, cycling threw every quadrant. One whole rotation is called a cyclus. During the flythrough they stay in direct contact with the responsible “Quadrant Guard”, supporting him and share the information from the other quadrants, and loading up his to the “Damocles-Mainframe”. The complete route is beeing kept as a secret, only given to the most trusted members of “Damocles”. Even the “Quadrant Guards” only know the coordinates relating to there theritory. The Homefleet is even the diplomatic instance between the “Quadrant Guardians”, if any arguments are starting. The Captain of the fleet is Joe Daniels, known as “Archangel”. His job is to work as an instructor, recruiting new and potential members for “Damocles”. The major difference between him and the other leaders is, that he doesn`t have the right to vote in decisions, but provide assitance and strategical suggestions to them.

How do you get into the homefleet ?

  • You don`t choose the homefleet, the homefleet chooses you.

Why the homefleet ?

  • The homefleet is the main HQ and a fix point for “Damocles”, preventing the organization from splitting appart into three regions fighting each other for the dominance. If one “Quadrant Guard” is beeing killed or arrestet he would never be able to betray the rest and steer “Damocles” into it`s doom, so the UEE wouldn`t have the chance to take the whole organization down.

How do we fight ?

  • “Damocles” is not interested to habit any space, because we are allready everywhere. We pull the strings behind the big stage. We strike and vanish, that`s how we keep our location secret. We don`t count on big fleets, rather on small striking partys. So our primary target regarding our staff is not quantity, but quality. High educated personal is very important for us.
