Don’t leave home without a DocWagon™ coverage plan! DocWagon offers first class emergency medical care on a twenty-four-hour basis, and we come to you!

History

DocWagon™ was founded in 2037 in Atlanta to provide premium emergency on-site care by responding to emergencies faster and better than its competitors. It kept ahead of its competition by adding new, innovative, and more comprehensive medical services, the first of which was the “High Threat Response” or HTR. Using armed and armored vehicles and adding security personnel to their paramedic teams, the HTR was able to go into dangerous areas that no other paramedic service dared to go. Following that innovation, they introduced a “get medical aid within ten minutes, or your on-site care is free” guarantee. Later, they introduced the idea of “subscription contract service”. For an annual fee, a client could get guaranteed and extended services, along with discounts on health care payments. These innovations and the DocWagon image proved to be so popular that by 2041, DocWagon became Atlanta’s official on-site health care provider.

In 2041, DocWagon expanded from just armored paramedic service to owning its first small private clinic. This was the first in a long string of DocWagon Acute Care Clinics that popped up all over Atlanta. In 2042, DocWagon extended their services throughout the UCAS. Through careful selection of franchises and astute business acumen, DocWagon managed to maintain a high standard of quality which quickly outstripped its local competitors. Although the restrictions on owning a franchise were tight, by the end of 2042, DocWagon installed at least three franchises in every major UCAS city, and had many more scattered throughout North America.

In 2043, DocWagon went international, selling franchises to other corporations within cities across the world. The first Seattle clinics and franchises were set up during this time. DocWagon was a major mega-corporation, a specialist in a business that never sleeps. By 2107, DocWagon had become a household name in every developed country on Earth, and in 2159 a franchise was opened to service the Mars settlements.

When humanity expanded to the stars after the discovery of the first jump point in 2271, DocWagon set up shop in every major colony, leaving every competitor in the dust – almost literally. The commercialization of space travel, however, created an entirely new set of problems, and it wasn’t until the colonization of Terra and the formation of the United Planets of Earth in 2523 that it became possible for DocWagon to service individuals offworld, within a limited radius of every UPE planet. DocWagon headquarters were moved to the rapidly growing Terra settlements to capitalize on its prime location among the stars.

In 2547, however, the newly established United Empire of Earth commandeered every chapter of DocWagon to provide medical services for the military machine. Assets were seized and spread thin with the UEE’s forces; only the headquarters on Terra remained. This presence was maintained and stretched across the planet along with the human cities.

Now, under new management, DocWagon is poised to retake the stars and reestablish itself as the go-to for search & rescue – the gold standard for high threat response.

Contracts

DocWagon offers four levels of service contracts, each with extending benefits for the level purchased. A tissue sample is required upon signing of a contract, and each client receives a biomonitor wristband that can be activated to call for help and then to serves as a homing beacon for DocWagon armed ambulances and fast-response teams in the area. Note that casualties suffered by DocWagon response teams will incur compensation fees from the client.

‣ Basic Service gives the client pay-per-service access to DocWagon services. It costs a monthly fee of 5,000cr, and fees for DocWagon services can range from 5,000cr for HTR to 8,000cr for on-site resuscitation. Acute care coverage ranges from 500cr to 1000cr per day, depending on the level of care. We are proud to offer prices that are significantly lower than the average hospital stay and even basic surgery costs.

‣ Gold Service grants one free resuscitation per month, plus a 10% discount on clinic/hospital stays. Base cost for HTR is halved, although expenses and other costs remain the same. Gold contracts cost 25,000cr per month.

‣ Platinum Service grants free HTR service, four free resuscitations per month and a 50% discount on clinic/hospital stays. Platinum service costs 50,000cr a month.

‣ Super-Platinum Service is top-of-the-line, and costs 100,000cr a month. The benefits are similar to the Platinum service, except that the client does not have to cover death compensation fees, and gets five free resuscitations per month. The Super-Platinum contract also gives the client an advanced biomonitor able to link to their ship and make the call in case of emergency.

We also offer single-use snap cards! Simply break one, and a response team will be with you shortly. However, HTR and medical care fees incurred with this service will be at the full standard price.

Response Teams

There are three levels of DocWagon response:

‣ Standard Response TeamsSRTs are the standard patrol ships of DocWagon. They follow a randomized path through UEE space, and usually consist of one to four paramedics. Standard Response Teams stabilize victims on-site, and if the going gets tough (too many victims, natural disasters, gang warfare, “hot zones”), they typically call for backup.

‣ Crisis Response TeamsCRTs typically cover large-scale medical emergencies, such as station fires, gang wars, natural disasters, etc. CRTs consist of up to eight personnel and a larger ship, and typically are not on patrol, remaining at DocWagon dispatch centers until an SRT needs to “call in the cavalry”.

‣ High Threat ResponseHTRs are the main public face of DocWagon, and consist of two to three medical personnel and several “threat support personnel”, who basically function as security guards and escorts. They protect the team and the client from hostile action during the pickup. HTRs are fewer in number than SRTs, but also patrol UEE space in a randomized pattern. HTRs are well armed and armored.

Charter

DocWagon agents operate under these rules

‣ The client’s safety is ALWAYS the number one priority. Every precaution must be taken to preserve the client’s life.

‣ We insure the client, not their ship(s). Abandon the ship without hesitation if necessary in the pursuit of the previous rule.

‣ Time is of the essence. Upon being dispatched, agents have mere minutes to reach the scene. Any delays and an injured client could bleed out or end up sucking vacuum.

‣ Avoid protracted fights. Better to extract the client quickly and quietly than to waste time with drawn out dogfights. Go in, suppress any and all threats, get out.

‣ During combat, aim to disable – not to destroy. Target engines and weapons. Casualties are bad for business, and the opposition could conceivably also be a DocWagon client.

‣ Avoid patrolling alone. When our services are needed, danger is a given. If a situation arises, better safe than sorry – call for backup.

‣ Go in loaded for space bear. Subtlety is not to be discounted, but intimidation is what keeps the peace.

‣ Stay civil and respectful. Not just with the client – with everyone involved. You are the face of DocWagon in the black. Represent us well.

‣ Keep records of transactions and interactions while on the job. Protect yourself, DocWagon and the client from legal repercussions.
