History

To new people….welcome to the Dog Company website. Dog Company was formed in 2001 playing the great game of WWIIOnline.

History and background of squad name: D Company, 2nd Battalion Ox & Bucks LI, 5th June 1944. This force, under Major John Howard, seized Pegasus Bridge during the early morning of D-Day. It is hard to reconcile the numbers given at different places in this source. Poett’s operation order, quoted in an appendix, specifies 20 sappers, 5 in each of gliders 1 to 4, with gliders 5 and 6 each carrying 5 men from Coy HQ; but the text specifies 30 sappers. The text also states that there were 30 to 31 men per glider, suggesting that the 160 total figure does not include 20 sappers; and that each rifle platoon had to leave 3 men behind, due to weight considerations. Weapons are not specified, but Brens, mortars (which must be 2-in) and PIATs are mentioned.

The squad was originally formed by Maniacle and Gipper. Rystan came along and not only played a part in the squad development but has been instrumental in our server over the years. In 2003 roughly Quizno took over command of Dog Company WWIIOnline section as i (Maniacle) moved over to Star Wars Galaxies on the Intrepid server to carry the guild to our 2nd game. In that game we ran as Dogs of War and built the great city of Cerberus on Intrepid.

Since that time we have played many games and our members come from every possible background. We were on the Scourge server in Age of Conan. The EU server in Darkfall eventually moving to the NA server. As well as other games too numerous to mention. Some examples are Entropia, Eve, Mortal Online, SWTOR, Guild Wars 2, etc.

Our current endeavors involve Star Citizen. Many of our members still play some of the older games even if we aren’t in all of them by force anymore. We don’t just play mmo’s either. We also play numerous other online and single player games with each other while having fun on our TeamSpeak3 server.

With all the background above mentioned, we welcome any new members to our community and hope you enjoy your stay. Our hope is that Star Citizen lives up to everyone’s expectations and we can call the universe our new home.
