Tenacity Breeds Victory

History

DragonEye, a small squadron formed in the TRI system in the early part of 2929 shortly after the first Collapse. Initially, a small band of brothers working together under one banner with only one purpose… survival.

In spite of all the squad prospered and it’s ranks slowly gained brothers and sisters of a like minded philosophy. This slow escalation in both size and power did not go un-noticed however and soon we found ourselves the focus of attention by not only the pirates but also the other two warring factions in the system.

We learned how to fight the hard way, not because we wanted to, purely out of necessity. We suffered a great deal of loss in the beginning. Time and time again having to retreat, our noses bloodied , scraping our scant resources together to return to the fight.

Eventually, the squad gained respect throughout the system, not because we became elite warriors ( a title we never sought or wanted ), but because of our tenacity and we always flew and fought with honor. At best we could hold our own against our adversaries and that was enough.

We had no interest in politics. We just wanted to protect our own and make a decent living. In hindsight, a pyridine we should have maintained. Our enemies began to retaliate for our tenacity by attacking innocent civilians of the commonwealth. We tried to turn a blind eye in the beginning and just go about our business but that just wasn’t the way we were wired.

Again against our own desires, we became a factional squad. At times supporting our military and at times defending the commonwealth in spite of our own government. Throughout it all, the only two things we managed to cling to,, our tenacity.. Our honor.

I can honestly say, to the man and woman, this was the best group of pilots you could ever hope to fly with.
They became so much more than squad mates.. They were my family.

The squad was disbanded by natural disaster. Those who made it out of the second great collapse (many did not) scattered throughout the verse now homeless nomads.

While the fire of the dragon was all but extinguished, an ember still glows. One tenacious ember.
