History

During the First Tevarin War, Llewelyn Dael and his crew became widely known as some of the most reliable information runners for the UPE. The stealth & speed of their ships was only outmatched by their piloting skills. Dael and his crew became known as the Drifters. The name assumed to have been taken from their method of evading Tevarin scouts, in the rare event they were unable to out-maneuver them. The Drifters notoriety grew with their reputation of never having lost information to an enemy faction. It’s rumored that Llewelyn Dael himself delivered to Messer the location of the Tevarin leader enabling Messer to return triumphant.

After the war, Dael embarked on a mission of enlightenment. He became a drifter of another sort in search of a scientific meaning to life that he believed could be discovered if technology could be pushed further than ever before. The information running organization he had founded evolved into an information gathering one, bent on discovering scientific and technological breakthroughs and publicizing them for the benefit of all humans regardless of the consequences.

Dael, who had fathered dozens of children from Oberon V to Terra III, eventually turned over the reigns of the Drifters to his daughter Elysiel. She and several of her brothers continued her father’s work, using any means necessary to obtain information and publish it for the masses. Their underground endeavor angered many organizations who lost billions when their trade secrets were publicized, yet the general public embraced their efforts. However, their adoration was typically more for the damage done to the large corporations as opposed to the usefulness of the information divulged.

Over the course of a century, the Drifters faded from view. Rumors circled in the mid-2600s that Elysiel had been assassinated by a mercenary group known as Crimson Chaos. But details concerning the financier are unknown altogether.
