Born where light dies.
We are the cold between stars, the pressure that crushes hulls, the silence that swallows screams.
No flags. No mercy. Only the take.
The void is calling its children home.

Black Ledger – Abridged Edition
Recorded by Fixer “Scribe” Varkis, 2955-11-20
2955 – The Night It Began
Six people. One ship. Zero illusions.
• Rhea “Red Queen” Voss – ex-UEE Navy, owner of the EIS Eternal Grasp (Idris-P, matte black, transponder dead).
• Dren “Iron Count” Halver – former Nine Tails lieutenant who walked away with a hold full of their Widow and never looked back.
• Selene Korr – smuggler queen who can move anything for the right price.
• “Revenant” – silent boarding specialist, face never seen.
• “Ledger” Jax – the numbers man who makes billions disappear.
• “Torch” Mira – saboteur and demolition artist.
They met above a derelict Starfarer in Pyro after each tried to claim the same wreck. Instead of killing each other, they split the salvage six ways, drank the last of the stolen Widow on the Idris’s bridge, and decided the galaxy owed them more than scraps.
That night they painted over every old marking on the Eternal Grasp and stenciled the Abyssal Sigil for the first time: an infinity loop crushing a broken crown.
One Month Later – The First Score
The six hit a fully-laden Caterpillar carrying 42 SCU of refined quantanium through the Stanton–Pyro jump point.
Total take: 126 million aUEC.
They split it evenly, looked each other in the eye, and made the pact:
“No bosses above us. No laws but the ones we write in fire and credits.”
Six Weeks Later – The Charter
Aboard the Eternal Grasp, still smelling of fresh paint and torpedo residue, the six signed the Charter of the Void Imperium in blood and engine grease.
Population of the Empire of the Abyss: exactly six souls.
Fleet strength: one Idris and a handful of fighters.
Ambition: limitless.
We are small.
We are silent.
We are just getting started.
The Abyss has opened its eyes.
Six predators. One capital ship. An entire ’verse to feed on.
— Ledger closed. For now.
“Take What You Will, Sell What You Can, Burn What Resists.”
We are the Empire of the Abyss.
Not a corporation. Not a militia. Not heroes, not villains.
We are the void’s oldest profession made flesh: profit without apology, power without permission.
In the ‘verse they built walls—UEE checkpoints, corporate trade lanes, “lawful” hauling contracts, insurance scams dressed as justice.
We were born on the other side of those walls.
Where others see risk, we see opportunity.
Where others see rules, we see leverage.
OUR CREED
1. Everything has a price.
Cargo, lives, loyalty, silence. Name it, we’ll bid.
2. Strength is the only currency that never crashes.
A Quantum Drive full of quantanium is worthless if you can’t keep it. We can.
3. There is no “good” or “evil”—only paid and unpaid.
Today we escort your Caterpillar through Pyro. Tomorrow we take it from you in Nyx. Both are just business.
4. The black is big enough for everyone… until it isn’t.
Share the lane or become the example.
OUR PILLARS
• PIRACY
We do not “steal.” We repossess. Every crate that leaves a hull without our consent is contraband by definition. Pad your manifests or pad our wallets—your choice.
• MERCENARY
Credits flow both ways. Someone needs a station sieged, a bounty hunter discouraged, or a rival org erased from local chat—we are the phone call that ends negotiations. Highest bidder wins. No politics. No flags.
• TRADE
The galaxy runs on supply and demand. We simply control more of both than anyone else. Slaves in Pyro, drugs in Stanton, weapons in Nyx, medical supplies during the next outbreak—we move what others won’t touch and sell it to those who pretend they don’t need it.
OUR STRUCTURE
No admirals. No presidents. No voting.
You earn your cut by what you bring to the table and what you can keep on it.
• The Council of Captains – Those who command capital ships and can back their words with torpedoes.
• Reavers – Boarding teams, fighter aces, saboteurs. The blade.
• Fixers – Smugglers, fences, info brokers. The shadow market.
• Prospects – You start here. Survive long enough, stack enough credits, and you’ll be invited deeper.
OUR TERRITORY
Wherever jump points lead and comm arrays go dark.
Pyro is our forge. Nyx is our bank. Stanton is our showroom.
We do not claim systems; we claim profits.
OUR PROMISE
To the org that flies with us:
You will never want for a fight, a deal, or a way out.
To the org that flies against us:
You will learn why insurance companies quietly raised premiums the day we announced open recruitment.
FINAL WORD
The UEE will tell you order is coming.
Corporations will tell you prosperity is coming.
The Nine Tails, Dregs, and Headhunters will tell you chaos is already here.
We tell you the truth:
The future belongs to whoever is willing to reach out and take it with quantum-ravaged hands and a loaded railgun.
If you’re tired of hauling someone else’s ore for 12 % cut…
If you’re done dying for a bounty that doesn’t cover your reclaim…
If you want to look at a constellation full of stars and see nothing but open cash registers…
Then paint your hull abyssal.
Turn off the transponder.
And quantum jump to the rendezvous beacon we just dropped in your PM.
The Empire of the Abyss isn’t looking for members.
We’re looking for predators who were told they had to wear a leash.
Cut it.
Welcome to the real ‘verse.
— Signed in abyssal ink and Widows,
The Council of Captains
Empire of the Abyss
Est. 2955 – Still Operating
Ratified by the Council of Captains, 2955-11-20 (IC)
PREAMBLE
In the endless dark beyond the reach of law, flag, or conscience, we declare the founding of a sovereign enterprise unbound by any authority save strength and profit. The Empire of the Abyss is not a club, not a democracy, and not a charity. It is a predatory organism designed to feed, grow, and dominate every lane it touches.
ARTICLE I – SOVEREIGNTY
1. The Empire recognizes no higher power than itself.
2. UEE law, Advocacy warrants, corporate charters, and local system edicts are void within any volume of space we choose to occupy at any given moment.
3. The Empire’s flag is black. Nothing else matters.
ARTICLE II – MEMBERSHIP
1. Entry
• Prospect status is granted by any Captain willing to vouch for you.
• Full citizenship is earned only through a confirmed multi-million aUEC seizure or the verified kill of a capital-class enemy vessel.
• Blooded members may tattoo or hull-mark the Abyssal Sigil (∞ eclipsed by a broken crown).
2. Rights of Members
• Right to bid on any contract the Empire accepts.
• Right to a fair split of any prize taken in joint operations (as defined by the raiding captain).
• Right to challenge any superior for rank or ship in single combat (rules set by the Council).
3. Expulsion
• Theft from the Empire or its members.
• Collaboration with UEE Advocacy, bounty guilds, or “clean” corporate security above squadron level.
• Repeated failure to honor a contract once taken.
Punishment is death or permanent exile with a public bounty equal to the offender’s net worth.
ARTICLE III – COMMAND STRUCTURE
1. The Council of Captains
• Any member who owns and regularly fields a capital-class warship (Polaris or larger) or has personally generated >500 million aUEC in Empire revenue.
• Decisions require simple majority. Ties are broken by torpedo vote (live fire on a neutral asteroid; last captain with shields wins).
• The Council may declare war, dissolve alliances, set tribute rates, and open or close recruitment.
2. Fleet Admirals
• Appointed by the Council for specific campaigns. Authority ends when the operation concludes or the Admiral dies.
3. Captains
• Sovereign aboard their own vessels. No one countermands a captain on their bridge except a Council member with bigger guns present.
ARTICLE IV – CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Pay your debts. Defaulting on a loan from the Empire is suicide by spacing.
2. Honor the contract. Once the Empire accepts a job, we finish it—client or target.
3. Never fire on a ship displaying the Abyssal Sigil unless the Council has declared them outlaw.
4. Ransom before destruction when profitable. Dead haulers don’t pay twice.
5. Information is property. Selling Empire intel to outsiders is treason.
ARTICLE V – TERRITORIAL CLAIMS & TRIBUTE
1. The Empire claims no fixed territory—only moving zones of control defined by current fleet disposition.
2. Any independent operator regularly working Pyro, Nyx, or unclaimed jump lanes may be required to pay tribute (10–25 % of cargo value) for safe passage. Refusal is declaration of hostilities.
3. Allied organizations may negotiate reduced tribute or mutual defense pacts through the Council.
ARTICLE VI – SUCCESSION & DISSOLUTION
The Empire ends only when the last capital ship bearing the Sigil is destroyed and no successor claims the name within 30 standard days. Until then, we are eternal.
ARTICLE VII – AMENDMENT
This Charter may be amended only by unanimous vote of the full Council of Captains while at least three Idris-class or larger vessels are present and armed.
SIGNATORIES
We set our hands and our hulls to this Charter, sealed in the blood of the first Prospect who tried to run and the quantum residue of the first Caterpillar we cracked open like a tin of rations.
For the Abyss.
For the take.
