First Imperial Shipping Corporation / FISK

The First Imperial Shipping Corporation, FISK, was created in 2556 as a Merger of multiple smaller and previously independent shipping corporations.

The Rise

Being known than as just “United Imperial Shipping”, the company saw a quick rise to influence, becoming one of the primary state contractors of the Empire in a matter of years.
At the height of the Messer Era, as much as 15-30% (numers vary from source to source) of all official Imperial shipping was conducted by the organization, which by that time was consequently renamed to be the “First Imperial Shipping Corporation”.

Those were the good years for the corporation.

The Fall

Following the aftermath of the “transition” at the end of the Messer Era the company nearly seized to exist.
Though no official charges were ever made against the corporation, most of its assets were destroyed during these tumultuous weeks.

Many of the people had come to regard the FISK – Logo as an equivalent to the symbol of the office of the Imperator. It was after all in these ships that, more often than not, Imperial Legats would arrive on a world to “reallocate its resources” or “conduct measures to maintain social stability” which in essence meant leaving a world stripped of crucial supplies or ferrying off thousands of arrested citizens.

So when the worlds of the Empire went up in the cleansing fire of revolution, so did most of the companies offices and assets.

The long „just tagging along..“

So over the last 200 years the Company existed mainly by name only. It was most out of a nostalgic sense in one of the families who organized the original merger in 2556.
Instead of seeking employment elsewhere, they held on to what little of the fleet they could still maintain.
Operating as freelance contractors, escort pilots, mining barge operators or even partaking in scientific expeditions for the DTN they made a living for themselves among the stars.
