Born out of small warehouse in the Area04 district of ArcCorp [Stanton III], Flightless Couriers set out with one mission in mind. With a second hand Freelancer, we wanted to support the other local small businesses in our corner of the planet. Flightless acted as a short range courier service to other small businesses who could not afford shipping through the major players like Covalex, enabling fellow entrepreneurs the to focus more on their production and services than how they were going to distribute their goods once they were made. Keeping a ship atmospheric and vacuum worthy is no small feat and often an insurmountable hurdle for new companies. Hence our name, Flightless, as we catered to those who quite literally were. This turned out to be a wonderfully symbiotic relationship with our neighbors on ArcCorp, for the more small business that could now stay afloat by shifting funds away from maintaining their own ships, the more customers we had.

As we picked up more business around ArcCorp, we started getting more requests for service from other small businesses that we would often deliver to off-world. We had a few more Lancers in the sky these days and a couple hub at other major industry areas around ArcCorp,. With this in mind, we decided to go system wide, and opened our first hub on Hurston [Stanton I] and officially started servicing businesses in the Lorville region. This was the first major turning point in our companies history as we now started acquiring larger haulers to accommodate both the growing volume of customers, as well as many of our customers growing from start-ups to mid-sized businesses themselves thanks to our early support. Many of these early customers have been enshrined in our history with our local hubs being either directly or indirectly named in some reference to them, and we maintain great working relationships, to this day, with nearly all of our original Area04 accounts.

As we started our expansion through the Stanton System, we began getting requests for other types of transport and began offering not just package deliveries, but also personnel movement from planet to planet and station to station. Again, our close relationships with our core partners pushed us into this realm. A shiny new Genesis Starliner later and we were filling up passenger seats before we knew it. Although we weren’t a dedicated luxury starline that you would take for the family vacation, when our partners wanted to expand to a new facility on the a new planet or station, we were able to help them move not just their equipment, but their teams of dedicated employees to get them up and running as soon as our Caterpillars touched down with the office chairs and heavy machinery.

As our partners grew, so did we. We never forgot our roots and still offer low cost local services to small businesses, but now we were starting to make it on the radar of the bigger players as well. We began getting requests for shipping bulk goods of ores and metals, gasses, and liquids. We expanded with some more purpose fit ships and found ourselves with a sizable fleet , made from a mix of shiny new ships and our original Freelancers showing their age. After careful consideration, we chose to open a new wing of the company dedicated to repair operations. Not only was this new department able to maintain and support our own fleet, but we entered maintenance and support contracts with many of our partner companies as well. With this, Flightless Couriers was rebranded to Flightless Technologies, in order to better reflect that now we were more than just a delivery service.

Time and time again, our core partnerships have pushed us into new areas. And most recently, we were asked if we were able to help with the supply chain a bit more from one of our earliest partners. They were kickstarting a new production facility and were having trouble reliably sourcing materials for their lines. In an effort to help our good friends out, our couriers began keeping an eye on their scanners for the material deposits as they made their routes, and we found ourselves with a second hand Prospector in the flight bay of one of our remote hubs. We never set out to be a mining company, but here we are, and we’re not mad about it.

We here at Flightless Technologies may still have transport and trade at the core of our business, but we pride ourselves in being able to support the industry needs of our partners, whatever their needs may be. We are always looking to expand into new lines of business, and form new partnerships with businesses and organizations both large and small. We look forward to providing backbone service in whatever means we can, and look forward to the future, whatever that may hold.
