Fort Wayne Gamers is a group of mostly casual players from Fort Wayne Indiana. Among us, you’ll primarily find fighters and freelancers. All are welcome to join, especially those from our geographic area, as we’ll be doing several LAN parties.
History
The core members have longed for games like Wing Commander and Descent: FreeSpace and have LAN gamed together since the late ’90s. A few of us spent a lot of time in Earth and Beyond. Some of us played EVE Online off and on, but couldn’t get into it, as it’s a lot more interesting than it is fun. We spent a lot of time together playing WoW from ’05 to ’11. We then moved over to SW:ToR, where a few remain, but others got bored. We’ve been burned by vaporware many times in the past, so not everyone is committed to SC yet, but we’re steadily rolling in and getting excited for the alpha release.
Manifesto
FTWG is all about co-op play. A lot of our players shy away from PvP in games like EVE, WoW, and SW:ToR because they don’t allow you to win by player skill, but instead by having better gear, more levels, or lower latency. If SC injects a healthy player skill requirement, we plan to co-op PvE content and offer our protection services. We’ll likely be playing from the same physical location more Saturdays than not, lives & wives permitting, of course.
