The Gravity Group rose from the ashes of frontier collapse—engineers, pilots, and tacticians bound by one creed: stability through force. They bend chaos to will, anchoring drifting systems with precision, grit, and unmatched resolve. Where gravity fails, they endure.

History

Origin Amidst Disorder
The Gravity Group was born in the shadows of a fractured frontier. In the waning days of a chaotic corporate skirmish in Stanton, a team of freelance engineers and security contractors were left stranded during a failed reclamation mission on a derelict Hurston outpost. With no support and limited supplies, they survived by re-engineering gravity systems to stabilize the failing station’s infrastructure—effectively turning an abandoned husk into a livable stronghold. Their success didn’t go unnoticed. Soon after, others came seeking their skills in crisis zones, and the core team realized their expertise in control, stability, and survival could fill a growing vacuum across lawless space.

Founding Principle: Gravity is Power
Named after their first feat—restoring artificial gravity to a collapsing orbital—they embraced the metaphor. Where others drift, we anchor. Their identity became rooted in this doctrine: order, weight, and permanence in a universe slipping into entropy. Engineers became tacticians, salvagers turned strategists, and under a unified banner, The Gravity Group was formed—not as mercenaries, but as structural visionaries. A new kind of organization that doesn’t just survive the chaos, it shapes it.

Expansion in Stanton
Operating from hidden outposts within the asteroid belts of the Stanton system, The Gravity Group maintained a low profile. While the mega-corps waged their subtle wars and pirates ran rampant in the voids between planets, Gravity operatives took contracts that required precision: reestablishing atmospheric processors, recovering downed cargo ships in hazardous drift zones, and escorting supply convoys through spatial dead zones where nav systems failed. They became specialists in high-risk stabilization—emergency grav-plate installations, station power core restarts, and zero-G boarding operations.

They forged quiet but strong ties with select independent traders and reformist UEE officers who shared a desire to bring dependable infrastructure back to the outer edges of civilization. Always pragmatic, never political, they served those who could pay—and those who needed anchoring most.

Incursion into Pyro
The arrival of jump-point access to Pyro marked a turning point. While many feared the system’s lawlessness and pirate syndicates, The Gravity Group saw it as an opportunity. Pyro was a collapsing ecosystem—decentralized, unstable, and volatile. In other words, perfect.

In the debris fields near Ruin Station, the Group established hidden staging sites. From here, they began quietly operating in Pyro: extracting critical salvage from war-torn wrecks, retrofitting derelict outposts with basic life support, and negotiating precarious truces with local factions to build “gravity pockets”—zones of temporary order for trade, repair, and rest. Their presence was neither welcomed nor fought. To most, The Gravity Group was a myth, a ghost crew that arrived when systems failed, made things work just long enough, then vanished before the shooting started.

Current Status
Today, The Gravity Group is both whispered about and sought after. Their insignia—a stylized grav-well symbol—is a rare but calming sight among haulers, explorers, and fringe operatives. In Stanton, they’re respected as behind-the-scenes fixers. In Pyro, they’re the strange force that manages to maintain order without dominion. Some see them as engineers. Others, as a private military corp. To the few who truly understand them, they are architects of balance—less a company, and more a gravitational constant in the wild dark.

Where systems collapse, The Gravity Group endures.
And where gravity is lost, they bring it back.
