“As for me, I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote. I love to sail forbidden seas, and land on barbarous coasts.”

History

The Great Space Whaling Voyage of 2157

In 2157, long before the verse was mapped and civilized, a small fleet of frontier pilots embarked on what would become one of the most infamous expeditions in deep‑space history: The Great Space Whaling Voyage. Their mission was simple in theory and impossible in practice — track, tag, and harvest the drifting megafauna that roamed the uncharted nebulae beyond the old jump lines.

They weren’t an organization yet.
They were wanderers, freelancers, and risk‑takers who shared one trait:
they went where no one else dared.

The voyage was brutal.
The void was unforgiving.
But the pilots learned to rely on each other with absolute trust — coordinating strikes, sharing fuel, repairing hulls in vacuum, and navigating storms of ionized debris that could tear a ship apart. Their tools were crude, their ships underpowered, but their resolve was unmatched.

During the final hunt, when a colossal void‑leviathan nearly crushed the fleet, one pilot broadcast the line that would define their legacy:

“Talk not to me of blasphemy, man; I’d strike the sun if it insulted me.” — Captain Ahab

It became the rallying cry that turned panic into unity.
The fleet held formation.
They survived the impossible.

When they returned to charted space, they were no longer a loose collection of drifters. They were a brotherhood forged in the wild — and the verse gave them a name:

Harpoon.

A mark of respect for those who had hunted the unhuntable and lived to tell it.

From that voyage, the Barbarous Coasts were born — an organization built on discipline, daring, and the unbreakable teamwork that kept those early pilots alive. Today, the moniker Harpoon remains a badge of honor within the org, a reminder of the fire, unity, and frontier spirit that shaped its earliest legends.

Manifesto

I. The Frontier Is Our Calling
We are Barbarous Coasts, a collective born from the edges of civilization — the drifting borders where empires lose their grip and new possibilities take shape. We operate where others hesitate: the shadowed lanes of smuggling routes, the contested territories of bounty hunting, the forgotten corners of the verse where only courage and camaraderie matter.

We do not fear the frontier.
We thrive in it.

II. Smugglers with Purpose
Smuggling, to us, is not chaos — it is craft.
It is the art of moving what others cannot, navigating the unseen currents of the verse with precision, discipline, and trust. We carry goods, stories, and opportunities across borders that were never meant to hold us.

We smuggle with honor.
We smuggle with intention.
We smuggle because the verse is bigger than the rules written to contain it.

III. Bounty Hunters with Resolve
Where injustice festers, we answer.
Where danger rises, we stand.
Where others see criminals, we see targets that threaten the balance of the frontier.

Our bounty hunters are not lone wolves — they are coordinated, strategic, and united. Every capture is a testament to teamwork, communication, and shared purpose. We hunt not for glory, but for stability, challenge, and the thrill of restoring order where chaos has taken root.

IV. Unity Is Our Greatest Weapon
In Barbarous Coasts, no smuggler flies alone.
No hunter enters the dark without a voice in their ear.
No member is left behind.

Our strength is not in our ships, our weapons, or our credits — it is in our unity, our willingness to lift each other, to share knowledge, to build each other’s legends. We believe that the verse is conquered not by individuals, but by crews who trust each other completely.

Teamwork is our shield.
Teamwork is our compass.
Teamwork is our legacy.

V. The Code of the Coasts
Honor the Crew — Every action reflects on all of us.

Master the Shadows — Move quietly, think clearly, act decisively.

Hunt With Purpose — Justice without cruelty, efficiency without ego.

Protect the Frontier — The verse belongs to those brave enough to explore it.

Raise Each Other Up — A rising tide lifts every ship.

VI. Our Promise to the Verse
We will be the example of what a unified crew can accomplish.
We will show that smuggling can be noble, bounty hunting can be honorable, and teamwork can turn outlaws into legends.
We will carve our name into the stars not through domination, but through cooperation, skill, and fearless exploration.

We are Barbarous Coasts.
We sail the edges of the verse.
And together, we rise.

Charter

The Spirit of the Coasts

We are Barbarous Coasts — a fellowship forged where the verse grows wild and the rules grow thin. We do not exist to bow, to apologize, or to shrink. We exist to move with purpose, strike with clarity, and stand with each other in every shadowed corridor of the frontier.

“Talk not to me of blasphemy, man; I’d strike the sun if it insulted me.” — Captain Ahab
This is not a call to madness.
It is a call to conviction.

It reminds us that strength is not the absence of fear, but the refusal to let fear dictate our course. It teaches us that defiance is not chaos — it is the disciplined belief that no force, no obstacle, no “sun,” has the right to diminish our unity or our purpose.
