History

This is how it all started…

When the Vanduul war-machine began it’s onslaught against the UEE, it shook the verse. There was an immediate call to arms from the UEE, some planets even implemented a draft to raise numbers. Thousands died in those first days of the war.

It was a simple but inseparable group of friends, three to be precise. Each was different from the next. When the roster of the conscripted was released to the public only one of their names appeared but it was the only reason the other two needed to follow. The training was intense, to be trained as a drop-ship trooper is to be trained for Hell, and as fate would have it, the trio would be sent to Hell together to the planet of Armitage.

It was here that their unit was deployed first. It was here that they eagerly hit the ground under heavy fire, hoping to avenge the deaths of thousands and pay homage to their fathers’ name. The battle was thick and bloody, explosions all around, flak flying from everywhere, but the unit held their ground for hours, even with mounting losses. But they were holding, and could even glimpse victory as assault after assault failed to move them from their position. It was then that a violent explosion tore through the center of their squad of eight, killing most instantly, the rest thrown several yards away, disoriented. The first thing they heard was the Vanduul fleet breaking atmosphere, with the next was the command to retreat but it was too late. The drop ships were already lighting off, those lucky enough to survive Vanduul fire, turned and chased the tails of the UEE fleet which was rapidly breaking away. The first betrayal.

Fighting on the ground still continued, though it turned into a fight for survival. Without fleet support, the remains of the unit was severely outmatched. Their only mission; to survive until the evac ships could return for them. The fighting continued into the night. The death toll was staggering and little by little, chaos swept through the ranks. It wasn’t long before the Trio found themselves alone, surrounded by the dead, Vanduul and UEE alike. At this moment, they became aware of the second betrayal, the UEE wasn’t coming back for them. They never were.
They managed to escape the battlefield under the cover of darkness, leaving the moans of the dying behind until all they could here was the soft resounding echo of explosions as the Vanduul consumed the colony. Hours later they heard nothing at all. Fleeing to the nearest village, a farmer discovered them and gave them refuge, seeing to their wounds and well-being. After a few seasons of laying low, they took up work for the farmer in an effort to repay their debt.

Debt paid, the trio seized the first opportunity they could to get off Armitage. They joined a pirate organization after hearing about the UEE’s latest news, labeling the forces that were left behind as deserters. The pirate org jumped from system to system taking any job they could until they arrived at Stanton and came across rumors of a pirate base called Grim Hex in Yela which proved to be true. Joining up with more pirates and gaining more reputation as time went by the trio picked up the nickname, “the Triad.”

The pirate band had no goals or long term intention for their Organization. The Triad discovered the band to be nothing more than merciless thugs without morals, preying on the weak. Upon realizing this, the triad plotted a mutiny and hijacked their ship while the crew was getting wasted at Grim and struck out to start anew.

On that day, the Organization of Infernum Nocte was formed.

Manifesto

The enemy think we’re weak, a broken people. They think we’ll roll over like a scared dog… how wrong they are. We will fight them in the fields until the last trench collapses and the last cannon is silenced. We will fight them on the streets until the last shot is fired, and when there is no more ammunition, we’ll crush their skulls with the stones that pave our city. We will fight them in the alleys until our knuckles are skinned and bloodied, and our rapiers lay on the ground, shattered. And if we find ourselves surrounded and disarmed, wounded and without hope; we will lift our heads in defiance and spit in their faces. But we will never surrender!

-Liam Greymane
