“IMC started under the name Hammond Engineering, a corporation designing robotic parts, spaceships and weapons. The demand for spaceship manufacturing materials and weapons, combined with Hammond’s space map database rights, eventually contributed to the explosive growth for the company. After fifteen years, series of mergers lead to the transformation of Hammond Engineering into the corporation known as IMC.”

“After IMC reached its full potential at the planet Earth it launched its fleet to the cluster of livable planets known as the Frontier. IMC believed that extracting the resources there would yield huge profit. However the Frontier colonist were not happy when the fleet arrived, they wanted to live independent from Earth. The colonists knew that letting the IMC in, would lead to the loose of their autonomy and they were ready to sacrifice anything to defend their new home. IMC realized that without the legal application of force the Frontier resources will remain buried.”

Actions before the war

“Having all the tools they needed, they started the exploitation of the resources by quickly building small fuel pumping and mining facilities all over the Frontier planets. By doing this IMC opened the trade routes between Earth and the Frontier. This did not effect the colonist living conditions as they expected, so they apologized the IMC for their statements made before. Seeing that the colonist are not as aggressive as they proposed, IMC decided to push their profit to the limit and started expanding their newly build facilities. The aggressive and systematic mining of many areas caused the destruction of wildlife, scenery and cities of the Frontier colonists, turning some planets to seismically unstable wastelands.”

The Frontier war

“Seeing their homes destroyed the colonist formed a loosely governed mishmash of homesteaders, bandits, mercenaries, and pirates known as the Frontier Militia. With the trade routes open for Earth the organisation managed to acquire weapons from the black market, allowing them to start a small scale engagements against the IMC. This was a shock for the IMC, because the organisation did not reckon that the colonists could unite so quickly. During the confusion Militia managed to obtain enough military equipment to form a space fleet of their own. The fleet was low on fuel and was not even near the power of the IMC fleet.

The Militia decided to make the first big move by attacking the strategic IMC objects one after the other, while the IMC fleet remained scattered across the planets of the Frontier. This lead to further chaos inside the IMC. IMC did their best to counter the attacks, but soon realized that all the resources they gain from mining the planets get wasted for the war. The corporation started gathering their whole fleet again to fight the Militia and soon was on the line of pushing the insurgents away.

The Militia realized that they are no mach for the whole IMC fleet and decided to make their final move. They assaulted the Frontier long-jump fueling facility known as Demeter that allowed the capital ships make jumps from Frontier to the planet Earth. Militia managed to overload the power reactor system on the planet, loosing their whole fleet in the process. However shutting down one reactor was enough and it triggering a chain reaction that caused death of most of the inhabitants living in the planet and massive destruction of the planet surface.”

“With Demeter destroyed there was no way for flag ships that require lots of fuel to make jumps back to the planet Earth. This caused most of the IMC fleet being stuck at the Frontier and also stopped the resource flow from the Frontier. Without any way for profit and a way to jump back the IMC command back at Earth stopped sending reinforcements to their fleet at the Frontier and gave the fleet full control of its own actions. Without any supervision the IMC fleet quickly formed a command of their own.”

“With the simpler jump systems made by the Roberts Space Industries the IMC fleet regain access to the long-way jumps that were not possible before. The fleet came back to Earth and started working as a hired military organisation with an impressive amount of combat experience. Now the organisation does big scale jobs for whoever pays the most.

This is where we are today. We faced many difficulties in the past and we know how it feels to loose and to win. Our policies have changed during the years of battle, but we always do our best to reach our goals.”
