Imperium Technologies

We do not come from Kings. Kings come from us.

(Full History http://go-dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Avernus/FIX_Chronicle.pdf)

On May 7th, 2003, two complete newbies founded a corporation called Imperium Technologies. Over 10 years later IT is still alive and well in the EVE Universe and many of our members are keen to venture into Star Citizen bringing their style and history with them. Do not be surprised if you find the IT of old very similar to the new IT of Star Citizen.

Way Back In The Day of EVE

As we began to get our feet wet, we set up our first office in Stacmon, Placid region. We recruited the only way we knew how… in Local chat. Surprisingly enough, we actually managed to get some members this way. We were primary focused on mining and industry, market warfare, and occasionally actual pvp against market competitors in the Placid region when they needed a helping hand to see things our way.

Life was wonderful, everything was new, a Moa cruiser could fill newbie eyes with awe. Being instilled with a thirst for exploration and seeing this wide galaxy, Avernus one day found himself southward bound, to find himself in Khanid region, talking to the locals about an supposedly super secret alliance that was coming into formation. It was time to get involved in the greater game that Eve had to offer.

Coalition of Free Stars – Who’s bright idea was this anyway?

We were about the 20th corporation accepted into the CFS. They were recruiting anyone. No really, basically anybody was able to get in. We had a corporation roster of 6 members when we arrived, it was immediately after our arrival that the minimum corp membership shot up to 20 following a vote in the CFS senate.

Life was surprisingly enough, still wonderful. New experiences drove us forward, we continued to slowly recruit, and within the space of a few months we had accumulated 20 people into our fledgling dream. The CFS nominally controlled the regions of Querious, Delve, and Period Basis. Anyone was free to use that space for their own uses as long as they abided by the laws of the CFS. All people had to do was not shoot people who weren’t shooting at them. The free for all commenced.

The CFS was the king of grand ideals, and at a complete loss when it came to things like unity, diplomacy, and prowess in battle. It was an abject lesson in how not to build an alliance.

Time passed, and after the oldest remaining corporation, Black Avatar, finished its term leading the CFS and promptly leaving it immediately afterwards, Imperium Technologies took its turn with a member of IT as the President.

Three months and various ulcers later, it was ITs turn as the oldest corporation to hand over the office of President to another, and leave the alliance. Instead of trying to run the CFS, we travelled further south to base in the regions that the CFS claimed, and other people lived in.

Querious Defense Force – The glory days have come

Being throughly sick of the alliance experience at this point, we looked forward to our being an independant corporation once again. It was at this time that a major part of our education was to commence. Numberous contacts were made with other corporations living in Querious, partnerships were formed and deals in the interests of industry were laid out.

Querious was very dangerous space to live in, we knew that coming in. It was constantly under attack by other alliances, and each corporation had expectations upon it to help defend the area.

After a few months of corporations getting to know each other well, a group of them formed a defence pact, no alliance politics involved, minimal organization aside from what was required to help people get into gangs, and get into fights.

It worked well, extremely well.

Firmus Ixion – We liked it so much, we stayed three years

The Alliance experience kind of managed to sneak up on us again. The QDF had worked out so well, that the corporations within brought up the idea that we should just go ahead and progress to the next stage. A charter was written, guidelines, structure, all the usual things. Meetings were had, forums were put in place, and things were progressing at a nice pace to make the transition. Then the CFS did something rather foolish.

Abandoning diplomacy, the CFS decided to take back all the stations in Delve and Period Basis that were held be the Fountain Alliance, after which they planned to then open diplomacy with FA. The carefully laid out timetable was thrown out. An opportunity for our own space, under our own rule, was here. We had done all the work defending it, we were the ones who lived in it, we weren’t amused by cleaning up somebody elses mistakes. FIX was named, officially announced, and at war within the space of two hours.

In the space of two weeks, Querious was uncontestably owned by FIX. The CFS, and allies StA and DSMA, were ejected from former CFS space. FIX did the majority of the heavy lifting, closing down the entrance to Querious, and devastating every fleet that attempted to push in. For every ship FIX lost in that war, they destroyed 20 in return.

Before the war was over, an FA diplomat attempted to pressure the newly fledged Firmus Ixion to place itself under its wing. They were rebuffed, in no uncertain terms. The attitude prevalant among the ranks, was that we would rule ourselves, and we would stand by ourselves. That attitude stood us in good stead, and also got us into more than a few wars. Over the course of the next three years, we faced more hostile alliances than can be tallied, and more invasions than any other alliance in Eve has withstood. With the exception of short intervals, FIX was always in the midst of conflict. Indeed, it was during times of peace that internal stability in the alliance suffered the most.

Imperium Technologies often found many of its members in leadership positions within the alliance, taking care of diplomacy, leading fleets, managing corporation recruitment and trials, setting policy. We stood by our principals, and on occasion were considered a complete pain in the ass for it. FIX, like many alliances, had its share of ups and downs. Our corporation strongly believed in what FIX stood for, and were staunchly against diluting or changing our code of conduct, or our values. By the end of our time in FIX, we never had.
