History

InGen, or International Genetics Technologies, was initially a bioengineering start-up company founded in the late 20th century by John Hammond. We originally handled normal genetics and biological manipulation. However, our true ambitions were something much grander; perform research to recreate extinct animals, with the aim to clone those creatures so we might understand the future by observing the past. When chief geneticist Henry Wu developed the procedure to recreate dinosaurs, this ambition was achieved. Though an incident threatened to tarnish InGen’s reputation not long after its founding, Hammond had a unique ability to look past the obstacles of today to the brighter future of tomorrow. We persevered under the accusations and legal fees. InGen declined all buy-out offers, believing we had the performance and purpose to weather out the storm. It was eventually discovered that the event was caused by corporate espionage. BioSyn was forced to incur all responsibility and wrongful death claims. Though absolved from any wrongdoing, InGen increased standards across the board and put ourselves in a position to thrive once more. Then interstellar space travel came along. When humanity first came in contact with alien lifeforms, InGen saw an entirely untapped opportunity. With the vast number of extinct species on Earth, there must have been countless more on other worlds. The ever increasing number of planets being encountered secured a way to stay on the cutting-edge of genetic engineering. This propelled InGen into space exploration. Sparing no expense, engineering expanded to ship components and systems to stay on the forefront of discovery. With the lucrativeness that space exploration provided, InGen has expanded into many other ventures to fund its research. Preserving endangered and extinct species remains a focus, but you can find us in almost every facet of industry across the stars today. From our engineering labs and exploration crews, to our transport services and resource acquisitions. At InGen, We Make the Future!
