The best damn transport corp ever!
Interplanetary Express was already founded in 2684 in Tram, Asura, Ferron System by young entrepreneur Baldwin Graustein as a venture to transport the vast amounts of resources and passengers from the, at the time, booming city back into the areas of high demand on Earth, Borea and Terra. The enterprise quickly grew to a widely known name in the transporting business as the areas served were thriving along the boom of the UEE’s economic expansions of the time and Graustein showed a very strong business talent. The starting phase of the company almost sounded like an entrepreneur’s dream and it quickly made headlines among the news outlets of the Human Empire.
Things started changing when the UEE Navy announced to move their Main Shipbuilding Yard from Borea to Macarthur in the Kilian System in 2751. While the move at first seemed like an improvement for logistics companies from the Inner Sector of the Empire, the Messer Administration secretly subsidized the struggling transport industry of Earth, making the new governmental contracts practically unavailable for companies from other planets.
Interplanetary Express was able to gather some exclusive contracts with Kruger Intergalactic on Borea, which though could not make up for the massive military income losses.
CEOs Herbert and Ivan Graustein, the son and grandson of the founder, decided the company needed a complete overhaul in order to get back in direction without relying on the governmental grace of the more and more unstable Messer Regime. The fleet would be completely rebuilt and business contracts within 12 UEE affiliated systems could be acquired.
In 2789, struggles reappeared for the Magnus trade lines as shipbuilder Kruger Intergalactic began moving their production to Sherman, Cascom. After long negotiations with Interplanetary Express being one of their main suppliers and have reliably served the Magnus system for over 100 years, the CEOs decided to accept Kruger’s offer of exclusive transport contracts to the new sites in the Castra System.
The last daily INPLEX ship left Borea after 105 years of daily service on Sept. 14 2789, leaving the planet now with only a monthly supply and passenger ship for small businesses and travelers in the records.
With the rumors growing, that Imperator Messer XI fell in disgrace with companies and entrepreneurs from the Ferron System, and with the CEOs of INPLEX being associated with revolutionary societies from Castra, within a short amount of time the business operations and headquarters had to be moved away. The new headquarters were secretly built up in Terra and the company now operated as “Terra & Skies Transport Service” to be protected from the violence of the Advocacy.
As the tensions were getting stronger, the company had to shut down most of their service in the Inner Sector of the Empire, leaving operations again in deep struggle as well as employees resigning due to fear of state repression. Almost 60% of the running fleet had to be sold and in the chaos within the company an estimated 100 spacecraft plus various company assets have been lost from the records. The Director’s Board decided to take everything they had left, including their last and most loyal employees and went all-in supplying the revolutionary groups forming up in the Bremen System.
After the revolution and the impeachment of Imperator Toi in 2792, the government compensated all organizations that have been actively hindered or destroyed by the Messer regime, meaning that INPLEX could go back to their former ventures in the Inner Sector. With those aids it was also possible to completely restructure and incorporate the scattered operations and raise the influence in the now opening Perry Line sector.
The 29th century was dominated by stability and growth, building up important business relationships with modern human corporations, as well as with Xi’An traders at the border posts in the Tohil System.
After the planets of the newly discovered Stanton System were sold to the Empire’s largest companies, INPLEX quickly bought in with a branch office in ArcCorp’s Area18, now controlling the Inner Sector traffic, while the HQ in Terra serves the rest of the Empire.
In 2872, the corporation got in the massive Project Archangel, making them one among the other big suppliers of the unseen-scale Synthworld build.
INPLEX was one of the first human companies in history to operate in the Xi’An Empire, delivering Xi’An technology for the development of the MISC Reliant series in the early 2910s. The Xi’An partners were quite impressed by the operational quality of human transport services, which eventually after a long process of political negotiation led to the Human-Xi’An Trade Initiative being one of the most promising current ventures for the INPLEX corporation.
