History

A Brief History of the Inter-Stellar Space Police
The Inter-Stellar Space Police is an outsourced organization that was created by taking benefit of UEE federal grants set aside for security measures in medium and low security areas. The basis for the ISSP was conceived as a fusion of the military police, the local police, and the federal police. Strictly speaking, however, authorization for creation was given to the ISSP based on one major criteria: local crimes were handled by the local police forces of each station/planet while larger crimes were handled by the federal forces or even the UEE forces itself. The ISSP was created to fill the gap between these two forces and allow a greater control of security in low-sec space.

Originally founded by former UEE Military Police members, the ISSP was created to insure order for Citizens who may venture from high security areas. As local and federal police forces may not fully encompass these areas, there was a noticeable gap in protection for miners, explorers, traders, and other Citizens who pursue dangerous duties in low security space. Over time, their duties expanded to handle other regulations and objectives set forth by the UEE governing body. While the ISSP is military in origins, they to ultimately answer to federal guidelines rather than military.

The ISSP has a lengthy history of insuring safety for UEE Citizens and often participates in both local and federal security councils. Many operational guidelines are determined by where a police force is stationed and, as such, the priorities of police officers may change. Officers assigned to new colonies have often found that Vanduul raiders are not the greatest danger present.

Manifesto

The Duties of the Inter-Stellar Space Police Members of the ISSP are tasked with fulfilling more than maintaining order in their assigned systems. Overall duties for your average ISSP member will include:
  • Investigating cargo transports for contraband
  • The capture or neutralization of security risks (pirates, bounties, Vanduul craft, hijacked ships for example)
  • Carrying out investigations based on information received (exploration or derelict crafts and stations)
  • Insuring the safety of UEE Citizens
  • Investigation of distress signals
  • Providing medical assistance to any Citizens
Other priorities may arise and as such, ISSP officers must be ready and willing to undertake any duty assigned to them by their commanders.
Laws and Regulations Due to the nature of the federal grant funding which the UEE provides, the ISSP is required to meet several federal criteria in order to maintain its status:
  • ISSP may be called upon to assist local and federal forces as well as the main UEE Military.
  • Internal investigations are regularly carried out to insure that the ISSP is functioning as required by the law
  • Maintain a functioning force to carry out the duties assigned by the UEE governing body
  • Maintain order and provide safety to Citizens
  • Enforce the laws as dictated by federal forces
What to Expect as an ISSP Member Upon joining the ISSP, expect to be run through vigorous training exercises in order to gauge your abilities and sharpen them for your future position. While most of the ISSP police officers work may be done in the cockpit of their assigned craft, many duties will require an officer to do more than just participate in space combat. Based upon the training results, new officers will be assigned to one or more of the following roles within the ISSP:
  • Flight Combat Duty
  • Recon and Exploration
  • Armed Combat
  • Information Warfare
  • Infiltration and Investigation
  • Command and Control Management
  • Special Operations
  • Patrol and Safety
