I am Colonel Morgan Kell, Grand Duke of Arc-Royal, and co- founder and Commander of the Kell Hounds. The Kell Hounds are composed of two regiments, First Kell Hounds and Second Kell Hounds, and consist of highly skilled and trained warriors. No mission is beyond our scope.

History

The Kell Hounds trace their origins back to a time before Morgan and Patrick Kell even considered establishing their own mercenary command. Their story begins with Arthur Luvon, a visionary who would later become the husband of Lyran Archon Katrina Steiner and a cousin to the Kell brothers. Arthur affectionately nicknamed them the “Kell Hounds” after witnessing their youthful antics as they chased a neighbor’s flock of sheep. Recognizing their potential, he designed the Kell Hounds’ crest and predicted that they would grow into formidable warriors.

In 2926, following Arthur’s passing, Morgan and Patrick utilized the inheritance he left them to establish the Kell Hounds mercenary unit. Initially derided as privileged youths playing at being soldiers, the brothers quickly proved their critics wrong. They demonstrated an exceptional understanding of strategy and tactics, supported by a highly skilled technical staff.

The Kell Hounds are composed of two fully equipped combat regiments and are regarded as one of the UEE’s most elite mercenary units. They are renowned for their unconventional combat approaches and their agility in adapting to various operational environments. Their versatility allows them to take on a range of missions, including full-spectrum operations, special operations, and clandestine tasks.

Their first significant contract came in 2941 when they were tasked by the UEE to conduct reconnaissance in the Kabal system. The objective was to assess the potential threat posed by the system’s inhabitants and to investigate any Vanduul presence. The results of this mission remain classified. In 2943, following Christian Meyer’s discovery of Vanduul activity on Vanguard III, the UEE deployed the Kell Hounds to conduct surveillance operations in the Vanguard system. During this mission, Strike Team Zulu, led by Morgan Kell, engaged a superior Vanduul force on Vanguard II. While the specifics of this operation are classified, it was crucial in preparing for the impending threat.

The conflict escalated in 2945 when the UEE officially entered into all-out war with the Vanduul in response to the attack on Vega II. Throughout this conflict, the Kell Hounds have played a crucial role in operations deep behind Vanduul lines, with many of these missions remaining concealed from the public.

One notable operation is Operation Silver Eagle, which unfolded in 2947. The Kell Hounds responded to an emergency beacon from Drop Ship Silver Eagle, which was transporting a UEE envoy in the Nul system. Under the leadership of Major Christian Kell, the Kell Hounds faced a determined band of pirates upon landing. After three days of intense fighting, the pirates surrendered, and the UEE envoy was successfully rescued. In recognition of their bravery and effectiveness during this operation, Imperator Layani Addison tasked the Kell Hounds with the objective of seizing the Volt system from the Vanduul. Upon successful completion of this mission, Morgan Kell is to be named Duke of Volt and given control of the system.

The legacy of the Kell Hounds is one of transformation, skill, and unwavering dedication, solidifying their place as a vital force within the UEE military landscape.

Manifesto

We are not born to banners—we choose them.

We are the Kell Hounds. Not a House army, not a pawn in the endless games of Lords and Pretenders, but a brotherhood bound by oath, honor, and the simple truth that skill, loyalty, and reputation are the only currencies that endure.

We fight for pay, yes—but never without principle.

We stand on three pillars:

1. Honor Above Contract
A contract binds our hands—but honor binds our souls. We do not betray employers, we do not abandon comrades, and we do not stain our name with treachery. Payment may win our service, but integrity defines our legacy. A broken word is a dead warrior.

2. Strength Through Discipline
Battle is chaos. We are not.
Every Hound is expected to be a master in their skill sets, with their weapons, and themselves. Training is relentless. Standards are unforgiving. Hesitation kills, and arrogance kills faster. We survive because we prepare, and we win because we trust in that preparation.

3. Brotherhood in the Fire
No Hound stands alone. From the greenest recruit to the most seasoned warrior, each of us is part of the pack. We bleed together. We endure together. We remember our fallen—not as losses, but as the foundation upon which we continue forward.

We do not chase glory. Glory follows those who endure.

The universe burns with endless wars—petty rulers, ancient grudges, and shifting alliances. We are not here to fix it. We are here to survive it, to carve our place within it, and to ensure that when the smoke clears, the Kell Hounds still stand.

Let others cling to titles.
Let others inherit power.
We earn ours.

Our reputation is our shield.
Our skill is our blade.
Our unity is our strength.

We are the Kell Hounds.

And we do not run from the hunt—we lead it.
Usque ad mortem!!!!

Charter

The Kell Hounds Charter

Preamble
We, the sworn members of the Kell Hounds Mercenary Regiment, establish this Charter to define our purpose, preserve our honor, and ensure the continued strength and unity of our command. In a galaxy divided by ambition and war, we stand as professionals—bound not by birthright, but by choice, discipline, and loyalty to one another.

Article I: Identity and Purpose

The Kell Hounds are an independent mercenary command, operating under lawful contract.

Unit leaders shall be appointed based on merit, experience, and demonstrated leadership—not lineage or favoritism.
Orders shall be followed promptly and without hesitation, except where such orders violate the core principles of this Charter.

Article III: Code of Conduct

Every member shall uphold honor in word and deed.
Theft, betrayal, cowardice under fire, and willful disobedience are grounds for dismissal or tribunal.
Civilians and non-combatants shall not be targeted except where survival leaves no alternative.
Prisoners of war shall be treated with professionalism and dignity, consistent with operational security.

Article IV: Contracts and Obligations

All contracts entered into by the Kell Hounds shall be honored in full, barring breach by the employer.

Payment terms shall be negotiated fairly, ensuring the sustainability of the unit and the welfare of its members.
Salvage rights shall be respected as a key component of operational compensation.

Article V: Discipline and Training

Continuous training is mandatory for all personnel, regardless of rank or experience.
Readiness shall be maintained at all times; negligence in preparation is negligence in survival.
Internal discipline shall be enforced through a formal chain of review, including tribunals where necessary.
Excellence is the standard; mediocrity endangers the entire command.

Article VI: Brotherhood and Welfare

Every member of the Kell Hounds is part of the unit’s collective strength and shall be treated accordingly.
The command shall provide for the wounded, the retired, and the families of the fallen whenever possible.
No Hound shall be abandoned in the field unless recovery is impossible without catastrophic loss.
Mutual respect is required; unity is survival.

Article VII: Reputation and Legacy

The reputation of the Kell Hounds is a strategic asset and shall be protected at all costs.
Actions taken by any member reflect upon the entire command.
Historical records of campaigns, victories, and sacrifices shall be preserved to guide future generations.
The legacy of the Kell Hounds shall endure beyond any single contract, commander, or era.

Article VIII: Amendments

This Charter may be amended by the Commanding Officers with counsel from senior leadership.
Amendments must strengthen—not weaken—the principles of honor, discipline, and unity.
No amendment shall contradict the foundational identity of the Kell Hounds as an honorable mercenary command.

Closing Declaration
This Charter binds us not by force, but by choice. Every Kell Hound who bears the insignia accepts its weight—the duty to fight well, to stand firm, and to never bring dishonor upon the pack.

We are not merely soldiers for hire.

We are the Kell Hounds.

And our word is iron.
