Karmola Shipyards Associate Social Club
Meet, Socialise, Group, Fly.

History

Important Note: I am developing this Organisation into a place where UK Star Citizens come to socialise. The Lore below is just a bit of fun; there is no requirement whatsoever to roleplay!

The Karmola Shipyards Associate Social Club was formal established in Spring 2913 by the then owner of the shipyard Antaré Karmola. Initially encompassing just the yard’s public house, The Jolly Wingman, the Associate Social Club quickly expanded into the recently decommissioned main hangar that made up the bulk of the shipyard complex.

These days it is the Associate Social Club for which the shipyards are most well known. Membership is restricted to the Associates of Karmola Shipyards (see the Charter page, for further details), a status that is the envy of many in the ‘Verse. There is a Rec Hall and gymnasium, a recruitment and employment training centre, and, just opened this year, a brand new simulator centre with the latest version of Original System’s Arena Commander for space crew training. The Jolly Wingman is a thriving venue and has an excellent selection of the finest beverages the ‘Verse has to offer.

The Associate Social Club initally started life as something of a joke between friends. Antaré, current shipyard owner Antan Karmola’s father, would regularly meet his friends in the yard’s public house, The Jolly Wingman. One day in late 2912, after a few drinks, one of them commented on the fact that it was a company bar and they were neither staff nor customers, thus they shouldn’t be allowed to enter. Antaré’s response was to say:

“Well then, I confer on you all the Associateship of Karmola Shipyards! This grants you access to this, The Jolly Wingman Public House and the very special, post-nomial letters of KSY.”

There was much applause and raising of glasses amongst the attending persons. However, one of them piped up with a question:

“But what of the further benefits? Surely much more is befitting of such a prestigious title?”

Antaré answered:

“Nay! There are no further benefits of being an Associate other than the fact that it is a testament to the awesomeness of you as a person!”

There were solemn nods of agreement and the motion was passed.

A few months later Antaré’s older brother, Tomas, was killed in action. With their father, Miguel, retired and a baby Antan on the way, Antaré had no choice but to downsize the shipyard. He closed the ship dealership, the mainstay of the business up until that point, laid off most of the workers but kept the scrapyard and repair shop that he had established when he gained his citizenship after 10 years in the UEE military. Conscious of the fact that many of his former staff wanted to retain ties with the shipyard and many had known no other work, he added to the bar and formally established the Associate Social Club as a way for people to learn new skills, look for work and to stay in touch.

Charter

This Organisation exists to allow UK Star Citizens a place to socialise. Members should, ideally, also be members of the Star Citizen UK Facebook Group:

All members can socialise or group up as much or as little as they like. There are no commitment requirements whatsoever.
