The UEE calls us an Organization. What a cold word for family.

History

We founded The Masters out of convenience. A loose gathering of individuals with no other home, banded together for safety and mutual aid. The name we gave to the Empire to define ourselves was a joke.

I never expected anything more from The Masters. But over time we came to trust each other to help when we were in need. When I was destitute from failed contracts and pirate interdiction, Nafai was there to offer a burrito and company. Big Duck never turned down a fight when I needed muscle for a sketchy deal. And when I needed a wingman to protect my efforts at hauling cargo, Tilty reliably fended off the pirates.

The Empire wouldn’t help us; their resources are dedicated to total war against the Vanduul. And the corporations wouldn’t help us; they only bow to their bottom line. So we began mercenary work to pay the bills that less violent means wouldn’t. With naught but a Cutlass and an ancient Avenger we fought our way up the pecking order of the Stanton system, one bloody abuse of power at a time. We have a small fleet now but we need more.

Manifesto

We need to grow. We need a home. And where do we choose? A planet in Stanton owned by the corps who don’t care about us? An asteroid in Pyro caught between the Citizens for Prosperity and pirates where even the star itself is vengeful? On the front lines of the war with the Vanduul in Nyx, with the People’s Alliance who refused to help? No, we need a home in the stars. Not one shackled to one of the myriad planets that rejected us.

I have an ambition now, to build a family for us outcasts across the galaxy. And we will need a home that can go where we’re needed to offer a hand. To welcome all those the Empire, the Corporations, the Citizens, and the People reject. A home, in the stars, where we’re free to pursue our own separate goals, but also where we can gather to tackle the bigger, harder challenges. A home that can protect its family.

I am, ironically, full of fire for the future of The Masters of Minimum Effort.
