History

Muratani Corporation maintains a proud history as one of the oldest companies from Earth still in operation today. Muratani was originally founded in Japan in 1965 as a Private Security and Technologies firm. In the 1970s, Muratani obtained contracts with Japan’s Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) to provide technology for their projects and security at certain restricted sites. That partnership would one day prove to be the very roots from which Muratani would grow into not only an international, but an interstellar organization. The first step in a long and fruitful journey.

In the 1990s, Muratani Corporation officially went international, opening offices and research labs in the United States. By then the company had branched into a diverse number of fields from product distribution to marketing. Muratani even absorbed a local news agency in New York. The company was rapidly growing into a popular and successful conglomerate with a glowing reputation. It was during this time period that the company adopted the slogan reflecting a bright and hopeful future that has persisted until even today: Branching Towards New Horizons.

Muratani Corporation continued their streak of good fortune for decades. It seemed they never missed a step and were always a favorite of the media, the face of the Corporate world. Always there to provide a light when the darker side of business reared it’s ugly head. Even following the disaster of the Mars Terraforming project, a project they helped to sponsor with some of their best and brightest, they encouraged the world to march forward in hope.

With the arrival of the Xi’an and Tevarin, where the UPE saw potential enemies and sowed mistrust, Muratani Corporation saw opportunity and extended an olive branch. It would seem the Tevarin were far too warlike, but the Xi’an accepted, paving the way for others to follow. Rumor has it that because of their close business relationship, it was Muratani that helped MISC secure their exclusive contracts.

Muratani Corp had always tried to maintain good relations with the various governments of Earth, and at first they embraced Messer and the UEE’s expansion. However, the as the Messer regime’s tyrannical nature began to show, Muratani began to consider whether or not Earth was the best place for them anymore. Their decision was fatefully made for them after the incident resulting in the death of Anthony Tanaka. With sad tidings and in the name of honoring the boy’s memory, Muratani Corp announced their plan to move their headquarters off-world, to Terra.

At Muratani Corporation, we pride ourselves on maintaining an enjoyable and friendly working environment. We also take customer satisfaction and business relationships very seriously and strive to provide excellent service and maintain a good reputation. For that purpose, we expect employees to follow a set of basic rules.

1) No criminal activity. If you are caught breaking the law, your actions will come under review by the Board of Directors. Repeat offenses or especially severe crimes may result in immediate termination.

2) Follow the Golden Rule. Maintain a friendly disposition and avoid disputes when possible. If a situation arises that is in need of moderation, bring it to the Board of Director’s attention and we will attempt to resolve it to the best of our ability.

3) Do not tarnish the company’s good name. We understand that not all jobs will end in success, but always try to act in a professional manner and don’t behave in ways unbecoming of the Muratani image. If you think you simply won’t be able to finish a job, feel free to ask for help. But never, ever break the terms of a deal or attempt to cheat a client. Such actions will be treated no different than criminal activity, likely resulting in termination.
