The Omega Legion emerged from the long shadow of the Vandal Wars — a brotherhood of Citizens who had served, endured, and refused to disband when their commissions ended. Founded in the unmarked years after the war’s bloodiest decade, the Legion takes its name from the last letter of an older alphabet: the end, the one who remains.
They are not a navy, and they are not a guild. They are a military order in the older sense, sworn to one another before they are sworn to anyone else. The fleet patrols a wide circuit of systems, but the order’s other hands work in quieter places: trading stations, industrial concerns, mining and salvage, sometimes even banking. Like the Hospitallers of an older Earth, they learned that an order without a war must turn its hands to industry.
The Legion holds mostly to the lawful side of the verse and takes UEE contracts where they’re offered. But they have been known to levy tolls and seize cargo as the price of keeping a sector safe — and where protection ends and tribute begins is a line they draw themselves. They keep their own counsel, and their own books. What they will not do is look away when it matters: when something threatens humanity itself, the Legion will answer the call.
