Optix: Navigating the Unknown
Founding and Early Days: Optix was established in 2948 by a small group of former UEE Navy scouts and civilian explorers. United by a shared curiosity about the cosmos, they aimed to explore the lesser-known regions of space and contribute to the broader understanding of the universe. The organization was founded in the Nyx system, at the independent mining colony of Levski, a place known for its spirit of freedom and exploration.
Mission and Vision: Optix’s mission is to explore uncharted territories, scout potential new jump points, and gather data on star systems, planets, and celestial phenomena. Their vision is to support the UEE and independent settlers by providing reliable information, without seeking the spotlight.
Notable Contributions:
Exploration of Nyx (2949): Optix began its journey by thoroughly exploring the Nyx system, documenting asteroid fields and potential mining sites. Their detailed reports helped local miners and settlers navigate the system more safely.
Encounter with the Xi’an (2951): During a routine scouting mission, an Optix team encountered a Xi’an exploration vessel. This peaceful meeting led to a modest exchange of knowledge, contributing to the ongoing diplomatic efforts between the UEE and the Xi’an Empire.
Stanton System Survey (2952): Optix participated in the survey of the Stanton system, identifying several asteroid fields with potential mineral wealth. Their findings supported the economic activities of larger mining corporations.
Current Operations: Optix continues to operate quietly at the frontier of human space, with teams stationed in various systems, including Nyx, Taranis, and Odin. They are currently focused on exploring the recently discovered Taranis system, providing data that may be useful for scientific and strategic purposes.
