History

The Free Coalition: A History of Collaboration and Power

Founded: 2910
Headquarters: Terran System, Earth
Primary Focus: Large-scale Operations, Cross-Organization Cooperation, Galactic Events

The Origins

The story of The Free Coalition begins in the early 29th century, during a time of intense fragmentation in the galaxy. Independent organizations, corporations, and militaries ruled their sectors with little cooperation, often clashing over resources, territory, and ideologies. This chaotic environment strained the ability of humanity to make progress in exploring and colonizing the stars.

In 2910, a visionary group of individuals from various factions, including former military commanders, business magnates, and explorers, gathered on Terra to discuss the possibility of fostering cooperation between these disparate factions. They recognized that humanity’s long-term survival and success depended on collaboration rather than division. With this goal in mind, they founded The Free Coalition—an organization dedicated to facilitating large-scale operations, joint missions, and events that would require the collective power of multiple factions.

The Early Years: Bridging Divides

In the first few years, The Free Coalition struggled to gain traction. Many organizations, especially the more competitive ones, were skeptical of the idea of cooperation. The Free Coalition began with small-scale missions, such as joint exploration expeditions and resource-sharing agreements, but it was difficult to gain the trust of organizations that had long operated independently.

However, the breakthrough came in 2915 when The Free Coalition successfully brokered a truce between two powerful factions—the Imperium Syndicate and the Vanguard Republic—over a disputed mining system in the Stanton sector. The deal involved coordinated mining operations, which greatly benefited both factions and laid the foundation for future collaboration. The success of this venture demonstrated that The Free Coalition’s model could work on a grand scale.

The Rise to Prominence: The Great Galactic Games of 2920

By 2920, The Free Coalition had expanded its influence across multiple sectors of space. With its growing reputation as a mediator and organizer, the militia began to host large-scale events, known as the Galactic Games, that brought together organizations from across the galaxy. These Games included everything from racing competitions to massive PvP battles to simulated exploration challenges. The events attracted thousands of participants and spectators, and with them, massive sponsorships and investments.

The Galactic Games became a symbol of The Free Coalition’s power to bring together the galaxy’s most influential players. They were an avenue for organizations to test their strength, skills, and resolve in controlled, non-hostile environments, while also forging alliances and boosting their reputations.

The Age of Expansion: 2930-2940

As The Free Coalition’s influence grew, so did its goals. The organization evolved from a simple facilitator of events and missions to a powerful force that could orchestrate the most complex operations in the galaxy. By 2930, the militia was responsible for organizing large-scale defense operations, deep space exploration initiatives, and the establishment of joint research programs for new technologies.

During this period, The Free Coalition established relationships with some of the most well-known organizations in Star Citizen—the Crusader Industries, the UEE Navy, and the Banu Merchant Fleet. These strategic partnerships allowed the Coalition to oversee military operations, humanitarian relief missions, and trade negotiations on an unprecedented scale.

The Great Rift: The Divide and Return to Unity

However, the rise of The Free Coalition was not without its challenges. In 2935, a major internal schism nearly tore the organization apart. The Free People’s Militia ( a faction of The Free Coalition), advocated for The Free Coalition to focus exclusively on scientific and technological advancement, believing that their expertise could reshape the galaxy’s future. Meanwhile, The Free Stars Militia (a faction of the The Free Coalition), sought to impose greater control over the galaxy’s security, pushing for an increased role in military engagements.

The conflict came to a head during the War of the Black Nebula, a series of covert operations designed to steal valuable data from a rival organization. The mission ended in failure, and The Free Coalition’s founding members were blamed. This fracture resulted in the departure of several prominent factions and allied organizations from The Free Coalition, leaving the organization in disarray.

The rift lasted for almost five years, during which The Free Coalition was relegated to a secondary role in the galaxy. However, in 2955, a new leadership emerged—one that sought to rebuild the trust and cooperation that The Free Coalition had once stood for. Through diplomacy, open dialogue, and a renewed commitment to joint missions, The Free Coalition managed to reunite its fractured factions and regain its position as a central force in galactic affairs.

The Present Day: A Legacy of Collaboration

Now, in 2950, The Free Coalition stands stronger than ever. With a growing list of affiliated organizations and a sturdy network of core individual members, it serves as the backbone for some of the most ambitious galactic operations ever undertaken.

The Free Coalition’s focus has evolved once again, adapting to the changing landscape of Star Citizen. While large-scale events and joint missions remain its primary role, the organization now also serves as a political body, helping to negotiate treaties and settlements between organizations and even entire star systems. Whether it’s organizing massive fleet actions, exploring uncharted systems, or ensuring the safe transport of valuable resources, The Free Coalition is the undisputed leader in bringing organizations together for the greater good.

As tensions between the Vanduul, Xenothreat, and other hostile factions continue to rise, the role of The Free Coalition has become even more vital. Organizations from all corners of the galaxy now turn to The Free Coalition for guidance, support, and leadership in the face of an uncertain future.

The Free People’s Militia motto, “Organized by the people, defended by the stars.” rings truer now than ever before. As the galaxy continues to expand, new threats continue to arise with it. We will meet those threats head on, to create a better verse for everyone. Together, we rise to any and all occasions that require the support of our stars and our people.

Intentions:

Defend the Oppressed: The Free Coalition exists to protect those who cannot defend themselves. Whether it is a planet under the thumb of a powerful megacorp, or a civilian colony under constant threat from hostile forces, we will stand in the gap. Our forces will protect those who seek freedom from tyranny.

Reject Authoritarianism: We are fiercely anti-authoritarian and will not hesitate to challenge any force—be it a government or a corporation—that seeks to dominate or control the will of the people. Our operations are designed to disrupt and dismantle those who believe they have the right to subjugate others through force, manipulation, or deceit.

Fight for Sovereignty: We believe that no faction, corporation, or government has the right to impose its rule upon peaceful people. We strive for the right of every individual and community to self-determine their future, free from external interference. The Free Coalition operates not to expand control, but to dismantle systems of control and create opportunities for self-governance and equality.

Foster Alliance with Like-Minded Groups: While we are a militia, we are also builders of alliances. We seek to collaborate with other freedom-focused groups and individuals who share our values, with the goal of fostering a collective resistance against those who seek to oppress the galaxy’s people. We will build alliances where mutual respect, freedom, and justice are at the heart.

Motives:

Resist Corporate Expansion: The Free Coalition was born from the need to resist the encroachment of corporations that exploit entire star systems for profit. We target megacorps that overtake planets for their resources, pollute environments, and enforce harsh labor conditions on populations. Our goal is to expose their actions and disrupt their operations wherever they threaten the lives of the people.

Uphold the Rights of the Marginalized: The Free Coalition fights for the rights of those left behind by the larger powers of the galaxy—whether it’s the workers, the refugees, or the disenfranchised. We will always side with those who are excluded from the power structures that dominate most worlds, ensuring they have the freedom and resources to carve out their own future.

Maintain Individual Liberty: At the core of our organization is the belief that every individual should have the freedom to live their life as they see fit—without interference from governing bodies or corporate overlords. We oppose any attempts to restrict the freedoms of individuals through surveillance, legislation, or military force.

Galactic Justice: The Free Coalition views itself as the enforcer of justice in a lawless galaxy. The law, as it stands, often serves the rich and powerful, while the common people are left vulnerable. We believe in a form of justice that is dictated by the people, for the people—an egalitarian approach that focuses on fairness and the rule of law, not the manipulation of the system for the benefit of the few.

Views:

The UEE and Centralized Power: We view the United Empire of Earth (UEE) as a monolithic, bureaucratic entity that stifles freedom in the name of security. While we do not believe in outright rebellion against the UEE’s citizens, we believe that its centralized power structure often leads to the oppression of the very people it claims to protect. We advocate for decentralization and self-governance in the systems and planets under UEE rule.

Corporations as the True Enemy: To the Free Coalition, megacorporations are the true face of tyranny in the galaxy. Through their unchecked influence, they manipulate governments, exploit workers, and push for expansion at the cost of the environment and the lives of civilians. The FPM will continue to oppose these entities through direct action, sabotage, and any means necessary to curb their influence.

The Vanduul and Xenothreat: While we prioritize the defense of human liberty, the Free People’s Militia does not shy away from confronting the dangers posed by alien factions like the Vanduul or the Xenothreat. We believe that humanity must stand united against these external threats, though we also maintain that our efforts should not divert us from fighting for freedom and independence in the core of the galaxy.

Mercenaries and Opportunists: The Free Coalition maintains a cautious view of mercenaries and other profit-driven groups. While we recognize the utility of mercenaries in certain circumstances, we reject the mindset that soldiers should fight for profit alone. We fight for principles, not paychecks. However, we do not rule out alliances with mercenary groups that share our values of justice, freedom, and defense of the people.

Closing Statement:

The Free Coalition is a beacon for those who have been silenced, oppressed, or marginalized by the forces of greed and corruption in the galaxy. We stand as a vanguard for freedom, and we are not afraid to fight for what is right. We are not a typical military organization—we are the voice of the people, the shield of the oppressed, and the sword against tyranny.

We will not rest until the galaxy is truly free.
