It is said that many of our own are decedents of noble warriors and knights of the ancient times, some of our brothers trace their lineages back to Charlemagne, King Henry the Fifth’s noble knight’s and even king Leonidas three hundred Spartans, but whether we are true descendants or not of these noble warriors doesn’t matter, what matters is that we follow their example of bravery, courage, chivalry and brotherhood.
Our order began where many met their end, on the field of battle. Where brotherly bonds stronger than the steel they held in their hands were formed, many kings, Czar’s and emperor’s often let their power corrupt them, numerous injustices occur and many calamities befall the innocent and defenceless, but we as a brotherhood vowed to protect such ones no matter the cost to us, and so our order was formed in hushed voices and secrets meetings on the twilight of Thursday October 1307, the king of France could destroy our castles, take our wealth, and even murder our innocent brothers, but our new order could never be destroyed, we would bide our time, keep our senses, speak in whispers, and be ever watchful, until the day we could rise from the ashes and the dust, as the brotherhood of the phoenix.
“If we are marked down to die we are enough to mourn, and if we are marked down to live, the fewer the men the greater the share of honour. Don’t wish for one man more. I’m not interested in riches, nor do I care who gets rich at my expense. It doesn’t bother me who wears my wealth. Such outward things don’t come into my ambitions. But if it is a sin to long for honour I am the most offending soul alive. No, my friend, don’t wish for another man. I wouldn’t lose as much honour as the share one man would take from me. No, don’t wish for one more. Rather proclaim to our brothers, that anyone who doesn’t have the stomach for this fight should leave now. We will not die with any man who lacks the brotherhood to die with us. Our brothers will teach their sons, and our victory will never come to mind from this day until the last day without us being remembered: we few; we happy few; we band of brothers. The man who sheds his blood with me shall be my brother; however humble he may be, this day will elevate his status. And men at home, still lying in their beds, will think themselves accursed because they were not here, and be in awe while anyone speaks who fought with us upon this day.”
-Henry V
It was on the muddy fields of Agincourt on the 25th of October 1415 that King Henry called his knights his brothers, and although his reign was short lived, his glory lasts an eternity.
So we the Brotherhood of the Phoenix rise from the ashes of what once was as knights and defenders of the innocent, to fight for justice and honour wherever we can.
And although we are few in number, we have the lion’s share of the glory, we don’t wish for any man to join us, save for the few who would gladly die with us in the name of brotherhood.
In times of new beginnings and great upheavals, there must exist those who resist the darkness that sweeps across the universe, those who stand against the onslaught of evil and say not one step more. Those who sacrifice a life of peace in order to defend the innocent and fight injustice, and so we ascend like a phoenix from the ashes above the wickedness that surrounds us, as it invades our lungs with every breath, and we will destroy our enemies, or die trying.
I will resist the unyielding darkness.
I will give no ground to evil.
I will always act with honour.
I will draw my sword for the innocent.
I will raise my shield for the undefended.
I will lay down my life for my brothers.
From this day, until my last day, i will live and i will die for the Brotherhood of the Phoenix.
