If we won’t do it, then no one will. We do what you want for the right price.

The Raven Shield Mercenaries were formed by myself and a few friends. This is how it went down. I decided after discovering the universe of Star Citizen to set out and join another group. It was a mercenary based group. I loved the idea of it. Well we had some issues and I ended up leaving with the new dream of forming my very own mercenary company. I couldn’t have been more determined to do anything at that point. So I messaged all of my best friends in high school and one of my good friends from the military who I am serving in Afghanistan with. First it was just my battle buddy and myself. Trying to do the impossible. I made a site the first step into making our dream come true. Then we set out to make our logo and ranking structure. Then about a week later I got on TeamSpeak with all of my friends and we talked about this idea. Of course they were in. The Raven Shield Mercenaries were official. We had about seven members.
Since then we have been working hard everyday to get more people into our ranks. We got two the very next day. I decided then that it was already worth it. A week later we had eleven members. Then out of no where two of our members left.. But in that same day we had four more applications. At this point we are at twelve members. I will never give up on this group and I will never give up on you. Having people leave will just make me work harder.
We want to be mercenaries but more than that we want to be friends. My goal is to start out small and end up around two-hundred members. We want to be the best damn mercenaries out there. We want to make money doing it and we want to have a great time doing it. I am not trying to convince people to join us anymore. I am asking people that want to be in our group to join. We are The Raven Shield Mercenaries and I will do whatever it takes to make sure you are enjoying your time with us.We have a very comprehensive ranking system based off of the military. There are officers and enlisted. We have eight ranks of each that you can climb. The first four are auto promotions based on time served. After that it will depend on how you participate within the group. Everyone will have an equal chance to go up the ranks. Right now our ranking system is a little unbalanced due to the fact that we don’t have the members to balance it correctly. Right now we have about four officers and eight enlisted. The officers are my friends who helped me form the group and myself. We have two sergeants and everyone else is a private. The importance of the ranking structure basically provides a chain of command for players to follow and with a higher rank you will get more responsibility and have access to more parts of the group. There will be no power hungry members in my ranks. There will be a time and a place when members can or cannot be commanded to do something by another member. I will include our Credo to further cement our beliefs on this matter.
On top of our ranking structure we are split up into four Wings. We have the Command Staff which will be the major officers and the Sergeant Major. The Sergeant Major will be in charge of all enlisted and act as a bridge and share your opinions and suggestions with the officers during Staff meetings giving everyone no matter how small a say in the group. The rest of the command staff will be my 2nd in Command, my Wing Commanders and myself. So that leaves open one position open in the Command Staff for a promising member. The rest of the wings are the Mercenary Wing, Recon Wing and the Industrial Wing. Each wing will have a commander assigned to it and later a 2nd in command aka Lt. Commander as members join and show progression. Each wing will have separate responsibilities and different skill sets. We will also later be forming a special forces unit which will not be set up until we are up and running and the alpha or beta has been released. These members will have a special rank that will identify them. Also just because your in a certain wing does not mean you can not cross over into other wings. The wing your in will just be your main focus in game and you can always change your mind if you want.
Now to be more specific on each wing:
The Mercenary Wing will obviously be our combat and security force. These will consist to probably 50% or more of out total ranks. They will be the guys getting down and dirty and taking all the risks for the group. But with great risk comes an even greater reward. They will be the backbone of the group and will make us who we are. There will be scheduled training once the DF Module comes out for these members. Nothing mandatory but step promotions will be offered to these members if they show they are trying to improve and participate.
The Recon Wing will be our intelligence/Scouts. They will get paid by going out and exploring and scouting. They will essentially give our Mercenary Wing the heads up they need to prepare themselves for jobs. If you find a jump point you will be paid for that information. For any relevant information provided to your commander about upcoming contracts you will also be compensated for depending on the importance of said information. You will also be paid hourly for your services whilst on the job for us.
The Industrial Wing will help make us self-sufficient by using group funds to trade and give us extra credits to help us stay afloat when no contracts are available. They will also be granted escorts free of charge from the group. They will be in charge of transporting VIPs or cargo for special contracts made. The pay outs for these types of jobs will be very high. You can also set out on your own and trade without group interference as well and still receive the free escorts.
There is no most important wing. They are all equal and they all have important roles that need to be accomplished. We will pay our members accordingly meaning if you are very active you will get more contracts and jobs therefore making more credits. We believe everyone will have an equal chance of making as much credits as they desire as long as they are willing to put in the effort.
Each week the command staff will come together and have a meeting where we will discuss what needs/wants and current events happening within the group. The Sergeant Major will tell us of the Enlisted’s problems and concerns. We will communicate through TeamSpeak and occasionally have concerned members invited into the meeting to tell us their thoughts. We want our members to have a say in what goes on in the group and decisions will always be made to in favor of the group. We will voice our concerns in the forums on our site and you will be able to address them there. We want to keep you all in the loop as much as possible. Now we can not tell you everything but this is because some things need to be kept secret for the operational safety of the group. For now that isn’t a concern because I don’t think that anyone has set their sights upon us since we are small and not fully operational.
Until the game comes out we will be focusing on other games like DayZ and BF4 and any others our members may be into so we can work together and fight Star Citizen waiting game together. Plus it will help us become a more cohesive unit and in the end lead to great friendships. Well If your interested in joining I have provided a link to our site in the Picture up to and will be putting one here as well.
The Raven Credo:
1. Treat everyone the way you want to be treated.
2. If you are given a reasonable command by a higher ranking individual follow it.
3. Honor the contract, honor the contract and honor the contract.
4. If there is a problem solve it at the lowest level.
5. Stay confident in your leaders decisions.
1. In other words just be respectful of each other. If you guys know each other and are friends as long as it doesn’t cause dissent among our ranks you can say whatever you want to each other. We are brothers in arms. Remember that and we will succeed.
2. If anyone higher ranking than you gives you a command follow it. Now if this command is something that involves attacking another teammate or killing yourself or just something generally stupid then don’t follow it and bring it up to them first and work up the chain. Now this doesn’t mean that him ordering you to retreat towards an enemy to save the rest of us isn’t a reasonable order. Always remember to think of the current situation before questioning an order. Use common sense.
3. Always honor the contract. Do not run away from any job even if it means losing your ship. You will have insurance so it will be fine. If you run away from a contract you will be suspended from the company for a week. I will not have cowards in my ranks. If we run from an escort duty or contract that needs completed we will lose reputation with our clients and lose our contracts. This is the most important rule to me. Consider this your only warning.
4. Solve all problems at the lowest level. In other words if you are offended by another members actions towards you or another member, talk to them first about it. If you two cannot come to some sort of agreement then take it up your chain of command. If word of bad behavior does happen to reach me directly then I will most assuredly enact some type of punishment according to the offense committed. There will be a court of some sort held and organized to address the problem. Witnesses will be called and you can defend yourself or have someone else defend you. We will then have five members neutral to the conflict make a decision based on the court proceedings. If you are found guilty, I will personally enact your punishment. The punishment will most likely be harsh due to the fact you have wasted my time because you could not come to an agreement with your chain of command.
5. Have confidence in your leaders decisions. This goes hand in hand with all of the rules combined. Trust us we are not going to try and make bad decisions but this is still a military organization and will be run as such with me having the final say in most decisions. This does not mean your leaders will not include you in the decision process as I will post any and all issues in our briefing room for you to discuss among yourself. When we make a decision, We will make it based on what would help the company the most. Some of these decisions will be hard ones and others not. But in the end I need you all to trust us.
That concludes our credo. Just follow these rules and you will climb the ranks accordingly.
