From the beginnings of space colonization until now, humanity has remained what it always was: always wanting more, bigger, and faster. Consumption and the need to possess are the two factors that have left the space we know littered with filth, waste, and other useless garbage in everyone’s eyes, because it is unviable or broken. All of this needed an end, or at least a beginning, a new, albeit common, element: scavengers.

It was by discovering what others consider superfluous and outdated that the first scavenger focused on a crate of bottled water, abandoned or lost on a long-haul flight. He decided to take it and resell it to the nearest store. The money this first scavenger received in return was a catalyst that led several other citizens of the stars to do the same after hearing his story: to seek out and salvage what others no longer want. What began as a simple being searching for goods and money became a small group searching for anything and everything.

Little by little, more and more men and women began to search, not consume. In addition to being economically profitable, some were building reputations for unearthing hidden treasures among the garbage, such as abandoned ore or even weapons forgotten from an old conflict. This attention attracted even more people, including the scrutiny of high society, who were more than disgusted by the actions of those they now called “The Rodents.” The judgment of others who disagreed with the practices of the “Scavengers” was strong, and some even resorted to reprisals, forcing them to stop scavenging and return to their standard lives as consumers and workers without purpose or objectives.

Since then, the scavengers have banded together and formed the group known today as the “Space Scavengers.” Composed of those who don’t care about the judgments of others and are capable of responding to the rare attempts at retaliation, we are currently organized and ready to clean up, collect, and sell everything we find, whether or not those who call us rodents like it.

Yes, we are rats, opossums, raccoons, etc. Yes, we are the ones who pick up other people’s trash, but before judging us for our activities, look around you and imagine the true value of what others consider useless. Little streams make great rivers, and what you acquired for free will always bring you profit when you sell it…

Introduction:

Initially simple citizens of the stars, we have gradually become rodents among the garbage left behind by others. One person’s trash is another’s treasure, and that’s exactly what we cling to. From simple snacks and drinks in crates to the armor plating and components of destroyed or abandoned ships, we salvage, hoard, and sell everything we can find. It may not be what ordinary mortals call a life, but at least we find our happiness without having to search for it, because it’s everywhere.

Motivations & Objectives:

Our one and only motivation is, as stated above, to collect everything we can find. Nothing is spared; we collect and will recover everything we find along our path in order to either keep it for our own enjoyment or resell it for money. In the future, we hope to collect so many items that our group will become a go-to source for obtaining certain hard-to-acquire products. Our ultimate goal is to own a landfill, or even a junkyard, in our name, on any planet, but preferably an unclaimed one. Rodents prefer to be among rodents.
