Like Death, Taxes and Teddybears, every ship ever made has or will break down. It’s an undeniable fact of life. The REPAIR BEARS are here to make your downtime a little less of a down and a little more of a cute.

History

When The Founder’s first 350R broke down, leaving him stranded for three days without a latrine, a communicator or a teddy to hug, he vowed, “Never Again!”

He decided then and there to organise a safety net where pilots could enter their itinerary and have another in the group check up on their non-arrival.

Should a pilot become overdue for a check-in, investigation will follow to ensure the safety of the pilot. Another Bear would venture out to try to retrace the pilot’s steps and aid the pilot, repair the vehicle etc. All for fees mutually agreed up front.

This service became known as the Repair Bears! And membership came with a free plush toy.

During subsequent years, the Repair Bears widened their gamut, adding Bears in the following fields:

Repair Bears – The original Bears and still the cutest: They read the database and respond to local clients in need by offering repairs, spares and other necessities either in the field or at convent locations. They will contact other Bears in their network to assist.

Security Bears – These bears are more tough-leather and horsehair than fluffy cotton-wool:
Those who want to offer their services protecting others as wingmen or escorts.
Bounty Bears – As sweet as the erstwhile chocolate bar, but far more effective at catching pirates:
Those who would like to earn bounties placed on bandits’ heads by official UEE channels or local Bear Bounty Channel.
Rescue Bears – As any child knows, teddies are not afraid of the dark and these teddies are braver than most:
Those who engage in rescue and medical operations for individuals, crews or Pods.
Recovery Bears – These bears tend to wear Those who engage in emergency ship or equipment recovery.
Salvage Bears – These bears tend to be a Frankenstein’s monster patchwork of discarded parts from every type of teddybear but are loved more than that big green bolt-eater ever was :
Those who salvage ships and lost cargo.
Courier Bears
Those who want to profit by carrying cargo and passengers.
Resale Bears
Those interested in the purchase, upgrade, or reselling of equipment, alien tech and ships, including antiques. They also stock a great line in cuddly bears.
Care Bears – These bears are soft and fluffy yet more anthropomorphically and anatomically complete than their appearance would at first suggest:
Those who are interested in looking after the needs of lonely space pilots and supplying hard to find or even the odd illicit luxury, or making a pilot’s life a little more pleasurable in other, more personal ways.

NOTE: The Repair Bears would encourage a pilot to remain with one’s current groups unless one wants to make a full-time career of the Repair Bears.

Manifesto

Affiliates Wanted. Recruiting Now!

The Repair Bears run on a simple premise:

Some Pilots need or want protection above and beyond Standard Hull Insurance and other Pilots want to use their skills and assets for fun and profit.

It really is that simple.

How Repair Bears Work:

Repair Bears operates using an online registry.

  1. Clients register their desire for backup or register their itinerary with next proposed check in time. They may select from a number of “bounty” conditions to entice support for particularly risky runs as and when required, or make prior agreements with registered Bears for protection or cover.
  2. Should the pilot not respond within the allotted time (or should the pilot send a distress signal) A red flag will be flagged on the network.
  3. Registered Bears will see the flag and intervene to help the distressed customer.

You can become and affiliate as either a Pilot (client) or as a Bear (service provider).

Become a Client (affiliate) as a Pilot:

Pilot – Pilots register their itinerary with the Repair Bears Service.
