History

  • The History of RRIP – Rusty In Places
  • Origins in the Outer Systems (2944)
  • RRIP was founded in 2944 by a ragtag group of veterans, freelancers, and industrialists who had grown disillusioned with the rigid hierarchies of the UEE and the chaos of lawless space. Many were ex-military, ex-corporate, or ex-pirates—united not by background, but by a shared belief: “There’s strength in grit, and honor in rust.”
They settled in fringe systems like Nyx and Stanton, carving out a living through mining, salvage, and mercenary work. The name “Rusty In Places” was a tongue-in-cheek nod to their aging ships and battle-worn gear—but also a badge of pride. They weren’t shiny. They were reliable.
  • The Rise of the Roughnecks
  • As the org grew, so did its reputation. RRIP became known for:
  • Efficient mining ops with shared profits and rotating crews
  • Reliable security contracts in high-risk zones
  • A no-nonsense culture that valued respect, autonomy, and results
The “Roughnecks” division was born during this time—an elite cadre of RRIP members who specialized in high-stakes missions, from deep-space salvage to black-zone bounty retrievals.
  • Expansion into Pyro (2951–2953)
With the opening of the Pyro jump point, RRIP was among the first orgs to establish a foothold. They deployed mobile HQs, secured mining claims, and ran escort ops for allied traders. Pyro’s chaos suited them—it rewarded grit, punished arrogance, and gave RRIP the space to thrive.
During this era, RRIP formalized its Code of Conduct, emphasizing:
  • Mutual respect
  • Real-life balance
  • Zero tolerance for toxicity
  • A “crew before ego” mindset
  • Modern Day RRIP (2954–Present)
  • Today, RRIP is a multi-role powerhouse with divisions in:
  • Mining & Industry
  • Combat & Security
  • Logistics & Trade
  • Exploration & Recon
  • They operate across Stanton, Pyro, and beyond—welcoming new pilots, mentoring rookies, and proving that even in a high-tech future, rust still gets the job done.
  • “We’re not the flashiest. We’re not the cleanest. But we’re the ones who show up, get it done, and fly home together.
