3rd Republican Shock Guard

When someone asks “Oh yeah, you and what army?”, look no further!

History

While the Military Company as it exists presently is still relatively young, the colourful history of the Guard can be traced back all the way to the 25th century, towards the end of the first great era of humanity’s colonisation of space. A true history of the Guard has proven to be impossible to reconstruct, since military records from this period are incomplete, missing or not made available to the general public, especially those from the Messer era.

The original military unit, the 3rd Republican Shock Guard, was formed from the remnants of the 1st and 2nd, which had suffered major losses in battle during the course of an armed civil uprising on a newly colonised planet. This rebellion was the result of conflict between the military authority and several commercial and ideological factions, and eventually escalated into a vicious ground war that lasted almost a decade.

Even before the units were merged, the Guard was not exactly popular with High Command, and the resulting unit has in later mentions even been referenced to as a “penal battalion”. Even though the Guard continued to be filled mostly with soldiers who were “troublesome to place within the conventional command structure”, they served admirably and effectively in the ensuing planetside conflict and eventual quelling of the uprising. In the ensuing centuries, for as far as can be reconstructed, the unit has continued to be deployed in one capacity or another, and can lay claim to a long and on balance mostly distinguished service history.

In 2944, the founding members of the present Private Military Company were the commanders, military officers and their subordinates that made up this unit. Dissatisfied with the direction and priorities of the current military leadership, they collectively resigned as a direct result and the unit was deprecated. Afterwards, they banded together to form a PMC under the same name and with the same military structure and culture, in order to pursue their own ideals of what the military should do, but on their own terms instead.

Manifesto

We are the Cream; of the Terran Republic’s army, we only accept those who would fanatically fight for the ideals of the republic, we are to be the elite, we are meant to be the elite, in our battles with other factions, we shall not falter nor fracture in the face of the enemy.

We are non restrictive; every Terran and who are loyal to our flag shall be a potential Guardsman, we will train them, work them, mold them into a cohesive fighting force. Numbers shall NOT be our Strength rather our skill and tenacity.

We are independent; we have our own ranking system and skill traits and wish to develop these assets in our men. Have pride in your ability to rank up in the organization, feel useful to the cause.

We have the right to Propagandize, we are not afraid of our success, we can be modest and humble. Don’t be afraid, your fellow guardsmen will have your back.

++++

If you want to lead yourself, do not be afraid to speak up, we will nurture you. WE ARE THE GUARD, WE ARE THE REGIMENT, WE ARE THE VANGUARD.

HIT HARD, HIT FAST , HIT LIKE THE REPUBLIC’S FIST!

Signed – Nov. 21, 2412

Victor Marx

Field Marshal of the Guard

Charter

1) The 3rd Republican Shock Guard is a self-sufficient Private Military Company
  • 1.1) All operations for the 3rd Republican Shock Guard (hereinafter also referred to as “the Guard” or “the Company”) are practically military, with engagement in commerce, mining, exploration or otherwise in order to gain material and financial security, as the situation requires.
  • 1.2) Preference should be towards military-type contracts, where the full standing strength of the Company is hired to perform a campaign.
    • 1.2.a) This is to promote team play and organised operations for all of the Guard.
    • 1.2.b) Sub-units under their commanding officers may engage in operations, if the full power of the Guard is not necessitated or otherwise unavailable, preferably accepting contracts through and approved by the Company.
    • 1.2.c) Individual Guardsmen and their private assets are ofcourse for hire at their own discretion, as long as they maintain the reputation of the Guard and obtained the approval of the Company. Preferably, they are hired through the Company.
  • 1.3) Contracts of another type can be accepted, as not all assets of the Guard should be focused on one niche, but rather be as diversified as needed for self-sufficiency.
    • 1.3.a) Endeavours of this type are understood to be regarded as supporting infrastructure of our main activities.
  • 1.4) The Company may also undertake (primary) its own military campaigns, outside of being contracted by another company, institution or government, or (secondary) engage otherwise in independent endeavours and undertakings.
    • 1.4.a) Endeavours falling under the primary type should be of benefit to the Company.
    • 1.4.b) Endeavours of the secondary type (examples include, but are not limited to: setting up a long-term or dedicated mining operation, participating in commercial trade, or undertaking and exploiting exploratory expeditions and discoveries) are to be regarded as supporting infrastructure for the Company’s main focus and military endeavours, but are otherwise free to be undertaken to expand and grow the Company into these fields/areas of industry.
