History

The Sakura Military Order (SMO) is a high-secular knightly order operating primarily out of the Castra System and the fringes of UES (United Empire of Earth) space. Born from the ashes of a failed corporate colony, they have evolved into the “Ronin of the Verse”—a disciplined, lethal, and deeply spiritual mercenary force.

Cascom military base evacuation led to a total societal collapse. While the UEE evacuated their military assets, thousands of laborers were left behind. A small security detachment of Asobi Tactical Solutions, led by Captain Kaito Ren, refused the order to abandon their posts.

Ren invoked an ancient Terran philosophy: Bushido. He reorganized the abandoned colonists into a self-sustaining martial society. They survived for a decade in the harsh, dying atmosphere, adopting the cherry blossom (Sakura) as their sigil—a symbol of the beauty and transience of life. When UEE scouts finally returned, they didn’t find refugees; they found a hardened military order.

Current Status (2954)
The Order has recently taken an interest in the Pyro System. They see the lawless frontier as the ultimate testing ground for their spirit. They aren’t there to conquer, but to act as a “moral compass” in the chaos, protecting traders who have no one else to turn to.

Operations and Fleet
To function as a true sovereign power within the universe, the Sakura Military Order utilizes a specialized fleet hierarchy. Their ships aren’t just tools of war; they are considered Flying Forts and mobile shrines, each serving a specific role in the “Great Garden” of their fleet.

  • The Katana Wings: Specialized interceptor squadrons (Arrows and Gladius) trained in high-speed, close-quarters “blade” combat.
  • The Daisho Guard: Heavy hitters (Perseus and Hammerheads) that act as the Order’s unbreakable shield.
  • The Hikō Yōsai: Flying Fortress (Irdis, Kraken and Javelin) Capital/Flag Ships acting as a HQ and a finale weapon against SMO enemies.

The Pillars of the Void (The Code)
The Sakura Military Order follows a modernized version of the Seven Virtues, adapted for the cold vacuum of space:

  • Gi (Integrity): A Sakura pilot never breaks a contract, provided the contract is just.
  • Rei (Respect): Even in a dogfight, enemies are treated with dignity. “Death by the blade is a gift.”
  • Yu (Heroic Courage): They are famous for “The Petal’s Drift”—a maneuver where pilots shut down all power to drift silently past scanners, trusting their skill over their tech.
  • Meiyo (Honor): They refuse to use “dishonorable” tactics like pad-ramming or excessive griefing of non-combatants.
  • Jin (Compassion): A portion of every UEC earned goes to supporting “The Fallen’s Garden,” a massive hospital ship that treats war victims regardless of faction.
