As a young man, Shen Ko grew up in a cloister on Cassel, studying the tenets of Punarjanma. Eventually, his curiosity lead him to investigate many faiths, from tribal superstitions, to large, organized religions, and even xeno-religions. Hoping to find a greater truth, by correlating the similarities between them, he ultimately departed entirely from his religious roots, and became a self proclaimed agnostic. As an adult, he tenured as a junior professor in Human Studies, in Xian space, and used his time there, to study Xian philosophy in depth.
Upon returning to UEE space, an older and wiser man, he formed the think tank, COSMOS. The topics of conversation range from philosophy, science, even religion, in an attempt to tie it all together into a working cosmos theory. Nobody in the group believes that goal to be achievable in their lifetimes, but they consider the journey to be as important as the destination.
Retired now, and somewhat reclusive, Shen leaves the practical goings on of the group, to people that show an aptitude for it.
The younger members of the group often mount scientific expeditions into deep space, and for curiosity, knowledge, fun, or passion, they look for anything new that will interest the group.
“If you find someone who is looking for the answer, join them, and help them look. If you find someone who says they found the answer, avoid them.” -Xian proverb
“All paths up the sides of a mountain lead to the same place.” -Xian Proverb
“Nobody ever came away with less knowledge, after a healthy discussion with their peers, or a surge into deep space.” -Shen Ko, founder
We are an open-minded discussion group, theorists, and a troupe of avid scientists and explorers. We have no doctrines, but much goodwill. This is a roundtable group, and we welcome new members and new ideas, even people of various faiths. If you are looking for more content to your queries, then you might find a competent challenge among our ranks. If you have something enlightening to contribute, even if it is just a notable question, feel free to contact us. All we ask is that you are tolerant of people who’s views do not reflect your own. Anyone trying to use this platform to proselytize their own religious agenda will be quickly disappointed.
Some of what we do is verifiable, some is supposition, philosophy, theory, or guesswork. All of it, is curiosity.
