StarFleet provides security services to protect the flow of trade in the star system from piracy and unfair business practices.

It consists of a primary military division and a secondary trade operation to provide a stable source of income.

History

Founded on Earth in the year 912 A.D., the organization then known as the Agathian Trade Corporation was created to guard and protect common roads from thieves and bandits. It sold its services to King Argon, then ruler of Agatha, and was adopted under Royal Charter to officially serve and protect the kingdom’s main trade routes.

When war broke out with the Mason Order in 916 A.D., King Feydrid expanded the ATC to meet the growing security needs of not only merchants, but military supply lines that were under threat of Mason attack. To accomplish this, the ATC was granted its own form of military command, and the world’s first Private Military Corporation was born.

When the war finally ended with Malric’s death in 924 A.D., the ATC was reduced in size but maintained its military command structure. It persisted through the medieval ages and later expanded into colonial Britain. It retained its military ranks but was not officially recognized by the British government as a military organization. its services were sold mainly to private organizations, most notably the East India Trade Company to protect sea-based routes in the Atlantic Ocean.

Once again, it was war with Napolean that led to an increased demand of trade protection. England’s King George the Third recognized the ATC’s military command, as soon as war broke out in 1793, which promptly changed its name to the Royal Trade Security Corporation. When the war ended in 1815, the RTSC had successfully embedded itself in the roots of British military command and retained its overall structure, although cuts in funding did lead to a temporary lapse in size.

Through the first and second world wars, the RTSC played an integral role in the Allies’ defense of Atlantic trade routes from German U-boats and submarines. After expansion into the Americas in 1950, the RTSC maintained its funding through the Korean War, Vietnam War and Cold War scare, the Gulf War, the Piracy issues in Somalia, and finally it helped with the maintenance of trade in the South-Pacific during the North Korean War of 2023.

When SpaceX launched its first interstellar spacecraft in 2085, the RTSC was requested to provide support in case of first contact with alien species. The RTSC began design of its first military spacecraft, the SF Cruiser I, and renamed itself to the StarFleet Security Corporation to reflect its new role in the protection of intergalactic trade and travel.
