History

Though the phrase “Sparrowhawk” can be traced as far back as medieval times on planet Earth, much of the history is filled with holes and mystery. There is no solid evidence of a starting point or who participated at first, nor what the group’s goals and aspirations were at the time. Yet, despite the shroud of time, the ideals have survived along with the name…
What little bit is known, should one delve deep into the archives and libraries, is that the Sparrowhawk Spies are the earliest recorded members of the organization, dating back to around the same time period that one “King Richard the Lionheart” would have been embarking on the Third Crusade. These records, which are actually only stories and possibly myth, depict only four members, spies, that were heavily involved in much of the written history of that time period, though few ever knew about it.
Since then, the stories have been sparse and vague, but all tell of protective guides who shared their knowledge and skillsets willingly with any who wished to learn, and eventually the label was shortened from “Sparrowhawk Spies” to “The Sparhawks”. One testimony reveals that the organization eventually became an intelligence agency that named itself “Sparrowhawk”, though most of the ranking agents still preferred the more fierce-sounding “Sparhawk” as a name, and used other bird names to describe their coworkers. Thus, the current rank structure came to exist.

It has been rumored for quite some time that the last remaining Sparhawk is Eliza Leopold. While it may be no surprise that she has come out about her secret, it did come as a surprise that she publicly announced that she is recruiting members to the organization. Regardless of the oddities, however, Eliza seems to be ambitiously rekindling age-old embers, and the heights that this new chapter of Sparrowhawk might reach are limitless and untold.

Perhaps someday, she may reveal more of her secrets, or better yet, of her ultimate plans for the future of Sparrowhawk…

Manifesto

It is Sparrowhawk’s goal to introduce and help anyone with their chosen profession so that they may contribute to the galaxy as much as their heart desires, and to provide safe, secure escort to those who wish it.

Long has the Sparrowhawk tradition been to guide and guard its students, and to this day we strive to see the qualities and virtues of the original Sparhawks instilled and practiced by all of our members. We believe that citizens and merchants should not have to worry about their safety or the safety of their belongings when traveling, and because we make sure that every Sparhawk is trustworthy, dependable, and punctual, they have no need to fret when they come to us.

When people can’t figure out how to progress in their trade, or simply need a bit more insurance that they reach the other side of the galaxy in peace, we want Sparrowhawk to come to mind.

Charter

~ First and foremost, as always- Sparrowhawk does not support, condone, or participate in any activities deemed to be unlawful or that may infringe upon the rights of other citizens and/or organizations. Such activities are strictly forbidden while representing the Sparrowhawk Organization, and will result in immediate termination from the organization, as well as any lawful punishment the organization is able to enforce, and all information regarding the unlawful act(s) being turned over to the appropriate authorities.

~ It is the duty of every Sparhawk to ensure that all activities performed by the organization and/or its members be lawful, professional, and satisfactory to the employing persons and/or organizations, where said employers’ expectations do not conflict with the rules given here.

~ Any duty taken on by a member of Sparrowhawk is to be seen through to completion in a timely and courteous fashion. It is highly recommended that these occasions be reported to Primicera Eliza Leopold, Praesul Syverus Gates, or Praesul Tyrian Skyjumper.

~ Ranks within Sparrowhawk are not necessarily intended to be positions of authority, except in matters pertaining to the structure, maintenance, and representation of the organization. Keeping in mind that it is one of our goals to help everyone be the best at what they do, higher-ranked members are meant to be experienced guides to the lower ranks, and are also considered the devoted members of the organization. Lower ranks are not expected to obey the higher ranks except as specified above, and respect is to be shown by and to all parties involved regardless of rank or circumstances. The lower ranks are also not required to be dedicated to Sparrowhawk alone; they may affiliate themselves with other groups if they wish, at the cost of never ranking past Cardinal. For all intensive purposes, the Primicer(ius) is considered the head of Sparrowhawk, immediately followed by the Praesuls, followed then by the standard 6-rank system: Master Sparhawk, Sparhawk Elite, Sparhawk, Cardinal, Cormorant, and Waxwing.

~ Lastly, any questions, comments, concerns, or issues regarding the organization, its members, specific instances, outside conflicts, or otherwise should be reported to to Primicera Eliza Leopold, Praesul Syverus Gates, or Praesul Tyrian Skyjumper. All submitted opinions, views, and information will be considered, responded to, and resolved as quickly as they are able to do so.
