Now get off my lawn!

History

The history of SPOG is not in the Society, but in our Members.

The value of the combined wisdom, experience and life learnt lessons that the Society for the Preservation of Old Gamers brings with it cannot be understated. Nor should it be. SPOG members individually are tremendous partners to have alongside you. Collectively, they are unstoppable.

And they fart. A lot.

SPOG is committed to gathering older Star Citizens together in a community geared towards zero pressure social gameplay and interaction. If you’re 40 or older you are automatically eligible to become a SPOG member. We are also currently accepting members aged 35-40 as we realise that you’ll probably be eligible for SPOG membership before the final game releases anyway :D.

There are no other requirements or member expectations. Join up now and start socialising with your fellow SPOGs. A dedicated SPOG Discord Server is planned to help facilitate future meetups and gaming sessions. SC Org Members will get invited to the server once it’s up.

Manifesto

The intention of the Society for the Preservation of Old Gamers is simple: Bring together older members of the Star Citizen fraternity so that they can share their wealth of knowledge, passion for the game, and years of collective experience with each other.

The Society for the Preservation of Old Gamers is a social organisation founded to bring together Star Citizens older than 40. The Society aims to become a central meeting point for Older Gamers who may occasionally need to socialise online with a more mature group of Citizens. The single proviso we have for membership is that you are at least 40 years old at the time of application. (We are still currently accepting members in the 35-40 age group as we know you’ll probably be eligible for membership by the time the game is live.)

Note that this is a Social Org. As such we have no organised in-game responsibilities or requirements, no fees, no minimum play hours, no taxes, no required skill levels, no ranks, no nonsense. Anyone over the age of 40 is welcome to join as a member. As the Society grows, we may get to the point of coordinating gatherings to shoot the breeze, reminisce about the ‘good old days’, or just hang out. This aspect of the Society will eventually be coordinated using Discord. Either way, there’ll be no obligation on any member to take part in any of these events at all or to use the social tools at all.

Old Gamers Unite!

Charter

The SPOG Charter & Code of Conduct

  1. Don’t be a douche, twat, dick, SOB, or a-hole, or any combination of these.
  2. Be helpful, especially to other members of SPOG who may need support, advice, game related suggestions, or even just someone to have a friendly chat with.
  3. Don’t be rude to anyone, especially not those too young to have the privilege of SPOG Membership – they just don’t know any better.
  4. Stay off the lawn.
  5. No farting when attending any real-life SPOG gathering.
  6. Any form of discrimination, racism, sexism, harassment, douche-baggery, or generally unnecessarily unpleasant behaviour is uncool and will result in removal of membership. Leave the Anti-Social Behaviour to the “youffs”.
