Our goals are to explore the universe, expand our scientific understanding, and to be on the cutting edge of human engineering and discovery. Along the way we strive to form new and interesting relationships around the verse, and to be a safe journey for anyone who wants to come along for a ride. Despite our often precious cargo, we are far from naive, as our specialized security forces can attest to. We recruit only the best and most dedicated researchers, engineers and soldiers.

If humanity should have an important encounter with an alien race or a foreign culture, our hope is that the Elon Musk orion exploration vessel will be there to show humanity from its best side.

New members of the SpaceX family can ride any of our luxurious ships as passengers. If applicants prove useful and above all loyal to the goals and aspirations of SpaceX, they may be hired and assigned roles as crewmembers.

Crewmembers fill most roles on a ship, ranging from technicians, explorers, to guards, or even researchers. Every member of SpaceX has complete autonomy and are free to leave or enter any of the areas they are given access to. Officers and higher ranking staff on the ship are present to assure that every excursion or mission is carried out in accordance with the wishes of Elon Musk.

Passenger

Welcome aboard the Elon Musk orion exploration vessel. Your presence and input is highly valued by our staff during breaks and automated travel. Our mission, to expand the frontieer of human knowledge, wouldn’t be possible without feedback from regular people from around the verse. During one of our automated flights, you may be visited by the staff and even given access to the ship bridge. For your security, all weapons will be secured before boarding. In the unlikely event that our vessel is boarded by hostile forces, security personell will make sure you are armed and capable of defending yourself.

Crew

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to our family. Participation aboard the Elon Musk orion exploration vessel is seldom referred to as work, although the material rewards for working with us far exceeds common crew salaries in the verse. As a small, elite operation, every member of our crew is valued. Working with the Elon Musk OEV is a unique opportunity for all of us. From enjoying beautiful vistas in the far corners of the verse, to experiencing true comradery and inclusion. As a crewmember, your participation in engineeering, exploration, navigation, security and research forms the heart and soul of our operation. You will receive orders from the security staff, officers and the captain. If you prove yourself during a mission, or perform actions of particular bravery and brilliance, you will be promoted to security or officer. In the unlikely event of an armed assault on our vessel, you are expected to defend it and to man the main turrets if called upon by an officer or member of our security forces.

Knekt Kommando

Our elite security forces, the Knekt Kommando, take their name from the ancient european words “knekt”, an honorary title given to proven warriors, and “kommando”, a germanic title for elite military forces. The name is inspired by Elon Musks birth language, afrikaans. The Knekt Kommando are expected to carry out the orders of our captain and chief officers, without regard for their own personal safety. Their black uniforms and intimidating ships make them a feared and respected presence both on board our vessel, and in the verse. As a separate military force, their work is carried out in secret and is kept hidden from everone except the captain and chief officers. We are not exaggerating when we say that we pay our security more than any organization in the verse, as such they are expected to perform above and beyond duty. A majority of the profit from dangerous operations go directly to the our security budget. As a member of the Knekt Kommando, you have the authority to give orders to any member of the staff for security purposes, except chief officers and above. Your primary task is to ensure the safety of SpaceX officers and staff.

Officer

“Struggle without hate” – Erwin Rommel

SpaceX officers are in command of the vessel, security forces, and the staff. They are usually seated on the bridge, but can plan and execute missions as they see fit. Only the most valued and trusted members of SpaceX rise to become officers, usually through heroic actions. Their respect and trust among the crew is earned, not given. They are also expected to defend the captain and other officers with their lives, and to use the funds of the organization responsibly. Officers can give missions to security forces, plan future goals with the captain, and perform any role on the vessel. Their primary responsibilities include navigation, security, hiring, and planning the future of the organization. If the majority of the crew of the Elon Musk orion exploration vessel deem an officer unfit for service, the officer in question will be demoted without further notice. This ensures a high quality among our staff, and prevents abuse. Regular crewmembers may be promoted to officers if all the existing officers and the captain agree on the promotion.

Captain

“If something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.” – Elon Musk

Captain is a position held by the person with the most trust and experience among all the members of SpaceX. The founders are the original captains of the vessel, but they may relieve their command to an officer and let him take charge of the organization at any time. If the majority of officers and crewmembers vote to replace the captain, the existing captain will be demoted and replaced by a chief officer. This process ensures that anyone can rise through the ranks, and that the captain is always the most qualified member of the vessel. The captain has direct command of the security forces, officers, and can plan and execute missions with any member of the crew. He is held responsible by the staff for everything that happens in the organization, and is expected to uphold the high standards originally set by Elon Musk.
