A Carrack class ship has been tasked to explore beyond the frontier of known space.
Its mission; to seek out new lifeforms, minerals and discover strange new phenomenons.

To know the unknown….its name, STELLARIS.

History

2940.
A consortium of special interest corporations and the UEE government mandated to form an organization, UEE-SEC (United Empire of Earth Science and Exploration Commission) with the purpose of seeking out new lifeforms, minerals and phenomenons.

2941.
A specialized Carrack class ship is put in production under secrecy.
Reportedly upgraded with an advanced jump plotting technology designed to allow the ship to navigate unknown space on its own.

2944.
Carrack class ship named STELLARIS passes flight test.
Intensive interviews set in motion to find the right crew among 16,229 applicants that include both civilian and military backgrounds.

2945.
Commanders Ilkhani and Koles recruited as first and second pilot.
Geologist Dr. Dave Bowman, astrophysicist Dr. Amelia Brand and engineer Pavel Chekov are recruited.
A new on-board computer AI is designed to assist the crew.

2947.
After two years of training, the crew passes all required tests.
STELLARIS is given operational clearance for active mission duty.

Manifesto

Charter

In 2268, the first attempt in space-jump was carried out by six brave humans aboard the prototype ship Excalibur.
Humanity cheered in anticipation from all corners of the planet, as the first jump away was observed from no less than 148 satellites and observation stations.

However, the celebrations came to a sudden end as the return jump marked one of the the darkest days in human history.
As billions watched the night sky through augmented reality projections, the prototype ship catastrophically blew up upon re-entry into space killing everyone aboard.

A week later, with nothing left to bury, the President of the UEE Robert T. Akita held a speech at the memorial watched by billions.
The following is an excerpt from that speech, carved into the Statue Of Remembrance, dedicated to the six humans tragically lost.

To persevere in our illumination of the dark night with dignity to the generations of sacrifice that made it possible and integrity for the generations yet to come, so that one day, they may lead us with wisdom and compassion as we have led those before us. President Robert T. Akita.

When the UEE-SEC (United Empire of Earth Science and Exploration Commission) was founded in the year 2940, the charter of UEE-SEC borrowed this excerpt to commemorate and establish the principles of human space exploration.

To Persevere with physical and moral strength against the greater opposition.
To uphold our Dignity despite challenges brought to us.
To traverse the unknown with Integrity so that it may change our minds, but not our character.
