The Iron Sons Banner – “Forged in the Void”
In the shadowed reaches of the Stanton system and the lawless Pyro expanse, the flag of The Iron Sons strikes fear into corporate haulers and bounty hunters alike. This banner was born from fire, betrayal, and unbreakable will under the leadership of Jactus Cack.
The legend begins in 2948 during the brutal Battle of the Broken Anvil. Jactus Cack, a hardened ex-UEE Navy salvage specialist turned pirate, led a ragtag crew of scrap-runners and deserters aboard their aging Idris frigate, the Unbroken. Ambushed by a heavy Corporate Security fleet near Yela’s asteroid fields, the Unbroken was torn apart. As the ship bled atmosphere and systems failed, Jactus refused to abandon his crew.
Dragging the shattered industrial anvil from the ship’s repair bay into the central hangar, he stood bloodied and defiant amid the wreckage. With enemy boarding parties closing in, Jactus slammed his gauntleted fist onto the anvil and bellowed:
“We are not scrap to be discarded. We are the hammer. We are the iron. And iron does not break — it forges sons who will rise again!”
That night, the few dozen survivors who fought their way out swore a blood oath over that battered anvil. Jactus Cack became their undisputed leader, and from that moment, they were no longer just pirates — they were The Iron Sons.
The Flag’s Creation
The official banner was designed by the crew’s master engineer, a reclusive weaponsmith known as “Forge”, under Jactus Cack’s direct vision. Every element reflects their origin and philosophy:
The Black Field: The cold, merciless void where the Sons thrive and corporations die.
The Armored Skull: Modeled after Jactus Cack’s own battle-scarred visage and unyielding stare. The metallic skull with glowing red eye sockets represents that the Iron Sons never truly die — they endure, watching from the dark.
The Pirate Tricorn: A nod to the old Earth naval raiders and the outlaw life Jactus embraced after leaving the Navy.
The Crossed Iron Blades: Symbolizes the dual creed of the Sons — fierce loyalty to their brothers and ruthless violence toward their enemies. Chains wrapped around the hilts represent the unbreakable bonds forged in battle.
The Anvil: The sacred heart of the emblem. It stands for rebirth through destruction — the moment Jactus Cack turned their near-defeat into the foundation of something stronger.
Tattered Edges & Scorch Marks: Never repaired. Every rip and burn tells the story of raids, escapes, and victories. The flag earns its scars alongside the crew.
The motto burned into the banner — “Forged in Blood, Tempered in Void” — is recited by every new recruit during initiation. They must strike the Anvil with a hammer while Jactus Cack (or his senior officers) watches, sealing their place among the Sons.
Today, the flag flies proudly on every Iron Sons vessel. When corporate crews see that red-eyed metallic skull and crossed iron blades approaching, they know Jactus Cack and his Iron Sons have come to collect their due — in salvage, in blood, or in both.
To every soul who wishes to join us:
Strike the Anvil.
Swear the blood oath.
Cast off the chains of the corporations and the false laws of the UEE.
If you are strong enough to stand with us, you will never stand alone again.
We do not seek permission.
We do not bow to tyrants in suits or uniforms.
We take. We forge. We endure.
To the corporations trembling in their armored freighters:
When you see the red-eyed skull and crossed iron blades on the horizon, know this — Jactus Cack and The Iron Sons have come for what is ours.
To the lost and the broken wandering the stars:
If you have the iron in your blood, come home.
We will forge you into something unbreakable.
Iron does not yield.
Sons do not forget.
Forged in Blood. Tempered in Void.
The Iron Sons Rise.
— Jactus Cack, Founder and Captain of The Iron Sons
The Iron Sons Charter
“Forged in Blood, Tempered in Void”
Established 2948 by Jactus Cack
We are The Iron Sons — a brotherhood of iron will and unbreakable loyalty. This Charter is our sacred law. All who swear the Oath upon the Anvil are bound by it. To break it is to weaken the iron itself.
I. The Core Tenets
Brotherhood Above All
A Son stands with his brothers. You do not abandon your crew in battle, in the black, or in chains. Betrayal of a fellow Son is the only unforgivable sin. The crew is your blood.
Iron Claims Its Due
We take from the weak and the bloated — corporations, UEE convoys, and anyone who hoards what the void should share. All spoils of raids are divided fairly: 40% to the ship/operation fund, 40% to the participating crew, 20% to the Syndicate Vault for repairs, new ships, and support of fallen Sons’ families.
Strength Through Fire
Every Son must pull his weight. Cowardice, laziness, or incompetence will not be tolerated. You are expected to train, maintain your gear, and improve. The weak are forged stronger — or they are left behind.
Honor Among Thieves
We do not prey on the truly innocent or the broken who cannot fight back. We are pirates, not butchers. Raiders may target corporate and military targets freely. Independent traders are fair game only if they resist or carry corporate cargo.
The Anvil’s Word
Jactus Cack’s word is final in matters of war, alliances, and the direction of the Syndicate. In his absence, the Council of Hammers (senior officers) may decide by majority vote. All Sons have the right to voice their opinion before a decision is made.
No Chains But Our Own
No Son shall bow to the UEE, any corporation, or rival syndicate. We do not pay protection fees. We do not snitch. We do not serve false flags. Any Son caught collaborating with authorities will face the Hammer.
Respect the Banner
The Iron Sons flag is sacred. It is never flown in surrender. It is never disrespected. When the red-eyed skull flies, we fight as one.
II. Conduct & Discipline
Loyalty & Secrecy: Never reveal Syndicate operations, bases, or safe havens to outsiders.
Prisoners & Ransoms: Captives may be ransomed or stripped of cargo, but wanton torture for sport is forbidden. We are iron, not monsters.
Ships & Gear: Every Son is responsible for the maintenance of Syndicate assets. Deliberate waste or sabotage of ships will be punished severely.
New Blood: All recruits must strike the Anvil, swear the Oath, and survive a Trial Run under fire before full membership.
III. Violations & Punishment
Punishment is decided by Jactus Cack or the Council of Hammers and is carried out publicly as a warning:
Minor infractions (disobedience, minor theft from brothers, reckless endangerment): Loss of share, extra duty, or flogging.
Serious infractions (cowardice in battle, lying to the crew): Exile or branding.
Unforgivable sins (betrayal of the Syndicate or a brother): The Hammer falls — execution by spacing or combat trial.
