History

Terraforming Tayac I

Discovered in 2524, the UPE only decided to terraform the planet now known as Tayac I in 2539. The engineers, scientists and support staff who first settled on the terraforming platform orbiting around the planet are now considered the first “Tayacans”. As the conflict with the Tevarin reached its peak in 2544, the non-essential project was cancelled and the UPE seemed to have forgotten about the system.

In 2546, Imperator Ivar Messer rose to power spreading fear about the Xi’an race. After experiencing the high cost of the Tevarin war first-hand, he was eager to develop weapons that would enable the Empire to end future conflicts swiftly. Among the many highly classified projects was the project code named “Vespa”, the brainchild of Dr. Thessaly Tayac, who believed that terraforming technology could be adapted for weaponization. The half-finished terraformed Tayac I was selected as the perfect test environment.

Tayac was made a military system, declared off-limits to civilian traffic, and all known jumps into the system were shut off by Naval blockades.

For several decades, the planet was systematically terraformed then de-terraformed, eventually transforming a planet with great potential into a desolate rock with zero atmosphere. Though Dr. Tayac’s team were able to successfully reverse the terraforming process, they were never able to weaponize the technology.

Completely removed from the public eye, the truth of what happened there during the Messer regime wasn’t fully known until their reign came to an end centuries later.

The Severance

In what is now known as “The Severance” the centuries long experiments and separation painted an alternate reality.
With the jump gates to Tayac closed, the isolation and lack of news from the outside quickly unitted the resident engineers, scientists and terraformers into their own people. It was common knowledge the UEE had isolated Tayac due to ongoing tension between Humans and the new Xi’an threat. As generations passed Tayac society developed its own industrious culture. Assumptions with a varying degree of truth became entrenched in Tayac society with little or no external knowledge to correct them. It was decided that as possibly the last humans left in the ‘Verse, an effort must be made to protect what chance remained of a future.

End of The Severance, Reparation & Tayacan Diaspora

Following 246 years of Messer imposed isolation, Imperator Erin Toi came to power, sharing the UEEs research in Tayac with former enemies.
Upon reconnection of the jump points the Tayacan desire to fill the gap in their past drove the majority of the population deep into the Verse, some looking for riches, some for knowledge, all for home.

During the Severance it had been common belief that humanity was tied in a centuries long war with the Xi’an, most fearing Tayac was the last vestige of humanity.
Now reconnected and realizing how close the might of Terra had been all along, yet how far their cultures had grown apart, many forged stronger allegiances with the Alien races with whom they now traded, above all the Banu. It was understood that in a divided ‘Verse influence and prosperity came through unity, echoing Marshall Leon’s vision.

“Humanity is better off with friends instead of enemies.”
(Senator Marshall Leon)

Formation of the Alliance

150 years passed and Tayacan people saw the ‘Verse more fragmented than ever. Where humanity was once united by a thirst for knowledge, it is now fractured by the hunt for selfish ends. Where there were once alliances, there are now factions. The elders of Tayacan commerce, academia and society met to discuss the future. It was decided to form an alliance to strengthen relations for mutual benefit. The Tayacan Heritage Fund was set up to serve as a central oversight committee, holder of funds and steward of the Founder’s Feast.

Manifesto

The Tayacan Alliance engages in all legal trades and provides a support structure for Tayacan people, ship crews, businesses, friends and their families. We believe it takes a group effort to prosper in the Verse, which includes security forces to defend and retain our assets. The Alliance interests include trade & transport, technology, exploration, resource & salvage, development and support.

The Tayacan ancestors learnt how to survive on an isolated space station and planet, forming us into self-sustainable, industrious, imaginative, resourceful and adaptable people.

The years of oppression left their mark on us, we are resilient, hard-working and at times defiant. The common heritage binds us together and serves as our identity and source of pride.

We work together as an alliance of like-minded individuals and entities, and accept the hierarchy only out of necessity in times of crisis.

Members of the Alliance are independent thinkers and actors, weaving their own story. We’re more like a federation than an army. Deep down we ultimately feel connected with each other and work towards a common cause.

After years of isolation we could finally escape our shell, thirsting for discovery, adventures, prosperity and most importantly, a good future for the ones that come after us.

Some Tayacans have found new homes in the diaspora, but most live an almost nomadic life-style, living on their own spaceships or the occasional hab. Most can trace their genes back to the original inhabitants of the Tayac I platform, others joined the Alliance out of sympathy, shared goals or just wanting a fresh start.

Ranks and Roles

We do not have divisions or departments. As a Tayacan, you may wish to advance through our ranking system on a leadership or technical career track. We want to reward not only leadership, but also technical skills, knowledge and other talents. We do neither promote people according to their time with the organization nor according to the size of their hangar.

Alliance and the Law

Having lived under the assumption of a perpetual war, Tayacans long for peace and interstellar friendship. We are not a security force, and do not condone piracy or unprovoked aggression.

In rare cases, rules of a given jurisdiction might be in conflict with our goals of social improvement and personal freedom, not only for Alliance members, but for others as well. We intend to do the right thing, but our methods might be out of sync with the rest of society. The actions of the Alliance follow the Chaotic Good alignment.

Charter

The Tayacan Alliance is a friendly and active group of people playing together in the Verse. By the time the game is live, we intend to have weekly events but also play together spontaneously. We aim for playtimes around European/US life schedules, but welcome players from all across the globe.

As a member you may wish to advance through our ranking system on a leadership or technical career track. We want to reward not only leadership, but also technical skills, knowledge and other talents. We do neither promote people according to their time with the organization nor according to their pledge level.

You are welcome to join us as an affiliate, however we cannot offer you commissioned, senior leadership positions.

Members who achieve high rank through leadership may be invited to join the Tayacan Heritage Fund, the oversight body of the Tayacan Alliance. The fund also manages promotions and assignments as well as hosting the Founders Feast.
