History

TBL was created 2004 under the banner of Merowinger Clan for the MMORPG Lineage 2. Merowinger was head of an alliance known as TheBlackLotus. As we changed servers the alliance name eventually just turned into the Clan tag for several of our friends joined along to a single organization.

We shared a whole lot of good and dramatic moments (got L2 = got drama) throughout the next years, making noticeable appearances on the private servers of Dragon Network (Infinity) and Dexternet (Wrath). Our playstyle varied from “highly engaged” to “not giving a fuck”.

As the main L2 project line finally came to a halt by the end of 2009, our core players stuck together to engage in playing various other games such as TERA, League of Legends or Diablo (Plot twist: all those games suck). Some even today play L2, still.

Now we are on the verge of committing to the StarCitizen universe: for Adrenaline and Adventure!

Manifesto

Outline

  • TBLClan is a multinational organization with our current members hailing from Europe, the American continent and the far East.
Our Clan/Organization is built upon mutual trust and – evolving from that – actual friendship.
Our members are as diverse as our backgrounds. But we all share a passion for games; in particular games being played cooperatively and/or competitively. In this area sometimes the weirdest figures congregate and so may we be. But rest assured: Though we are diverse we still don´t recruit any random person. In the past people have usually realized themselves if they enjoyed our company or not.

Philosophy

  • We consider ourselves highly adaptive.
We play goal-oriented as for us, a good gaming experience always gets pushed by goals and the will to raise the bar and introduce new approaches to problem-solving. Yet we aim to maintain a healthy balance in our activities since fun and friendship shan´t be sacrificed in favor of goal-oriented gaming. We always attempt to walk this (thin?) line. Plus, we all got some daily duties, real life activities and friends which we don´t want to miss out on. Thus, we would place ourselves somewhere in the middle of the pack in between “hardcore” and “casual”.
Despite our diverse characters and backgrounds we have always been known as a reliable partner to our allies – and as a really annoying foe to our enemies. We take pride in both.

Organization

  • TBL has always been about a semi-democratic leadership system.
The more experienced members take leadership duties to their own hands as it becomes necessary. Many of the members being active yet today have been in the actual Clan leader position (L2 required a single leader position to be filled) for at least a certain period of time. Usually our full member base was consulted whenever seismic shifts were ahead. Yet during daily operations, duties must be clear and a working leadership being able to react reasonably fast to events is inevitable. We may operate with a leadership core to ensure this.
We use our Teamspeak server and forums for communication. Apart from that it has to be determined what means of communication SC adds in the end.
Some of us follow the general development of the game, however it seems yet too early for major theorycrafting. We feel there are better things we can spend our time on at current. That is why you won´t see us creating a huge hype anytime soon (if ever).

Members

  • The Clan has been more or less inactive as a gaming Organization recently. Additonally, not all of us are convinced that SC will become a rousing success and the game they would absolutely want to play – we surely hope being able to prove them wrong. We also hope to eventually be able to re-activate a larger playerbase from our ex-members once SC goes live and actually turns out to be what has been promised.

Recruitment

  • We are not actively recruiting at this time.
We´ve created this Organization to reserve the last of the available and suitable tags for our Clan. However, if you as a mature person who loves (PC) gaming out of the ordinary as much as we do reads this and feels interested then please don´t hesitate to contact us or visit our forums.

Diplomacy

  • Not much yet. But why not, if anyone feels their goals coinciding with ours then we are happy to hear from you any day.
