The Corp / XSGamers

Who are we?

In a nutshell The Corp is the Star Citizen branch of XSGamers, which is an UK/EU based gaming community aimed at adult players who need a relaxed, no pressure group to belong too.

The origins & beginnings of XSGamers starts way back in the UK in 2002, with the game Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Most of the senior members have our PC gaming roots stooped in that time, when multiplayer games over the internet were just beginning for most people. Through the years, we’ve joined together from various other clans, playing games such as Call of Duty, Guild Wars, Battlefield 2, LOTRO etc up to the point of just over 3 years ago, when Battlefield Bad Company 2 was released we decided on a venture to encompass both our FPS & MMO passions under one roof. We’d had always found it hard to join the two together up to that point, until we created XSGamers, which is now the umbrella for all our gaming ventures. Since then we’ve gone from strength to strength, gaining members from all over Europe, Asia, Africa & across the pond in the US & we plan on growing even more for quite a while.

We have a minimum age requirement (over 18yrs) as most of our members are 20yrs+ & some have limited time on their hands, due to work & real life commitments. Something that we really emphasize to people who look to join us is that there’s no pressure from us that they have to play a certain amount of times per week or commit to regular play times. The community fits around you & your lives & it works really well. It keeps people happy both when gaming & in their personal lives.

We like to embrace new tech & utilise apps for smart phones such as WhatsApp for quick information. We’re also on Facebook, Twitch, Twitter & YouTube.

How serious is The Corp?

We play to win, but never at the expense of fun.
Gaming is a hobby, not a job and it’s one of the foundations of XSGamers. We have fun no matter what game we play and that includes Star Citizen. We encourage a light-hearted and fun environment so that people can relax and game amongst friends. That’s why you’ll never see us recruit thousands of players who you’ll never get to know just so we can say “We’re the biggest Organisation” etc.
We want our members to know each other, not be faceless entities.

What kind of player should want to join The Corp?

Anyone really,as long as you’re over 18 (or close to it & mature). Any play style, any ability, it doesn’t matter. As long as you enjoy your gaming & want to be part of a fun, relaxed & humorous guild, then look no further than The Corp. Massive ego’s & power trips need not apply.
If you’re a small group of friends looking for a home, then you’re welcome to drop in too.

Are there any costs to joining the Corp/Guild?

Nope, non at all. The Corp is free to join & doesn’t cost a penny to be a part of.Same applies to all the Guilds/Outfits/Kinships & Clans we have at XSGamers.
We won’t even ask for your 1st born or sacrificing a lamb each week

What’s the Guild’s expected focus?

Pretty much it boils down to what the members want to do & if the game mechanics allow it. If someone wants to do something in the game or needs help achieving something then all available pilots will try to help out where possible.
We’ll work together to achieve our goals. If miners or explorers need some protection then we’ll give it. If traders need support when hauling through some bad country, they’ll get it.

PvP / PvE?

This is definitely down to personal or Group choice. We won’t ever force people to run as total PvP or vice-versa if they don’t wish too. Personal choice matters. Griefers won’t be tolerated though.

Will there be progression for members?

Of course. If you show the qualities that The Corp needs the CEO & Board Members will look to utilise your skills to help The Corp expand, so promotion & progression is always an option. Bribes are optional

Will there be any Events?

Absolutely. We like nothing better than making our own entertainment within the game. The Legendary Flash Races in Planetside 2 are testament to wanting to do things less normal.

Voice Comms & other stuff

We run a TeamSpeak 3 server for VOIP for all our games & once you go VoIP you never know how you manage without it. So much simpler & easier to ask questions, chat or laugh over VoIP than it is via keyboard chat, plus you get the benefit of getting to know your fellow pilots. VOIP isn’t mandatory as we know sometimes its just not feasible due to circumstances.

Currently we’re enjoying DayZ:SA, Lord of the Rings Online, BF4 & Planetside 2 from the MMO & FPS genres. But we’re always looking ahead & we’re discussing what avenues to venture down in the gaming world, as there’s some brilliant games due within the next few years that we aim to have a presence in , Star Citizen, Wildstar, The Elder Scrolls Online, Elite: Dangerous, to name just a few.
