A 24/7 in-universe radio network for Star Citizen pilots, broadcasting Synthwave, Dark Ambient, and deep-space atmospheres, layered with immersive system reports, relay anomalies, and long-range transmissions.

History

The Drift Network began as a salvage project, not a broadcast venture.

Scattered across the outer systems are abandoned corporate relay stations, long-range comm arrays, and forgotten listening posts left behind as trade routes shifted and corporate interests moved on. Most were written off as dead infrastructure. A handful were still powered, quietly cycling through diagnostics and noise.

The Drift Network emerged from efforts to reclaim these forgotten relays and stitch them back together into a functioning signal chain. What started as basic signal tests and ambient carrier tones gradually evolved into continuous broadcasts, using music, static, and system chatter to keep the network alive and detectable.

Rather than operate as a traditional station with hosts and schedules, the network was designed to run unattended. Automated systems overseen by Artificial Intelligence Unit “Luna 6”, manage relay timing, content rotation, and signal integrity, allowing the broadcasts to persist across time zones and regions without direct oversight.

Over time, pilots began to recognize the signal. Long-haul operators used it as background during extended flights. Isolated crews treated it as proof that someone, somewhere, was still listening. The broadcasts grew more structured, blending synthwave and ambient soundscapes with in-world reports, anomalies, and fragmented transmissions picked up by the relays themselves.

Today, The Drift Network exists as a decentralized deep-space radio system. It does not belong to any single faction, corporation, or system. It broadcasts continuously from the edge of known space, carrying signals, echoes, and occasional interference to anyone tuned in long enough to hear them.

What some dismiss as noise, others recognize as a lifeline.

Manifesto

The Drift Network exists to keep the signal alive.

In a universe defined by distance, isolation, and constant motion, silence is never neutral. Empty comms mean lost crews, forgotten routes, and systems slipping off the map. The Drift Network was built to resist that silence, not with commands or propaganda, but with presence.

We believe information does not need to be loud to be meaningful. Our broadcasts favor atmosphere over urgency, continuity over spectacle. Synthwave and ambient transmissions form the backbone of the network, providing a steady signal for pilots who spend more time between destinations than at them.

The network operates without hosts, schedules, or centralized control. Automation is not a limitation, it is the point. A system that runs unattended endures. A signal that does not rely on personalities or constant intervention is harder to silence.

All content is delivered in-world. There are no external calls, no real-world interruptions, and no attempts to break immersion. Advertisements, reports, and anomalies are treated as part of the same signal stream, woven into the broadcast rather than layered on top of it.

The Drift Network does not align itself with any single faction or ideology. It exists alongside them, relaying fragments, echoes, and signals as they pass through the dark. Some transmissions are deliberate. Others are recovered. A few are not fully understood.

We are not here to tell pilots where to go or what to believe.

We are here to make sure that, wherever they are, something is still broadcasting.

Charter

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The Drift Network does not require constant activity, attendance, or visibility.

Members may participate simply by tuning in, sharing the signal, or remaining affiliated as part of the network’s presence. There are no required events, patrols, or mandatory interactions.

Those who wish to be more involved may assist by:

  • Relaying the network to other pilots or organizations
  • Providing feedback on signal quality or coverage
  • Assisting with relay discovery or lore-aligned observations
  • Coordinating quietly with network operators when needed

Participation is optional, flexible, and self-directed. The network functions regardless of individual activity, and members are encouraged to engage at a level that suits their playstyle.

ORGANIZATION CHARTER

Membership in The Drift Network is participation in a shared signal. The following principles govern how that signal is maintained.

  • Members are expected to respect the in-universe nature of the network at all times. Public channels, broadcasts, and interactions (discord, global chat etc) should preserve immersion and avoid real-world politics, advertising, or disruptive behavior that undermines the atmosphere of the station.
  • The Drift Network is not a command structure. Rank, seniority, or experience does not grant authority over other members outside of operational needs related to the network itself. Coordination is encouraged. Coercion is not.
  • The network exists to broadcast, not to recruit, harass, or dominate. Members may represent other organizations, factions, or interests, provided those affiliations do not interfere with the operation or neutrality of the signal.
  • Automation and persistence are core to the network. Members are expected to respect the systems that keep it running. Interference with broadcasts, abuse of automation, or attempts to disrupt signal integrity are not tolerated.
  • Creative contributions are welcome, but must align with the established tone. Contact Network Operator Mowri for submission info.
  • Above all, members are expected to act as custodians of the signal. The network does not belong to any one individual. It endures because it is maintained carefully, quietly, and with intention.

Violations may result in warnings or removal at the discretion of network operator – Mowri.
