Trueman-Hunters: Protecting human systems for over 100 years.

History

In 2839 two ex-UEE comrades, Colonel Bernard Trueman and Major Jacob Hunters, gathered a small squad of like-minded soldiers and bounty hunters who wanted to operate outside of the restrictions of government oversight. They felt that the culmination of bureaucracy and meddling from other major corporations had caused turmoil in civilian areas, and also knew that the people at the top were vastly under-compensating the soldiers who put their lives on the line to protect everyone.

Trueman-Hunters was formed with a mere starting battalion of around 300 soldiers, but as the organization proved it’s worth on private contracts (typically offered by fringe worlds that knew they couldn’t rely on the military) they began to see massive profits and massive recruitment surges.

Operating out of Magnus, the PMC saw a steady and successful growth in size and profits for about 7 years. It was around this time that Colonel Trueman, now known as the Director, heard from one of his old acquaintances from Drake Interplanetary. With the controversy surrounding the company’s alleged dealing with pirate organizations, Trueman-Hunters was approached by one of the board members in a bid to build a positive view around what the Drake Cutlass could do to protect people.

Trueman-Hunters had been using the Cutlass for many of their missions over the past couple of years and had built a sort of folk-hero status for themselves in the process. The idea was sound, and for a time the bad publicity the cutlass had been receiving was somewhat alleviated.

As the years passed and new blood took over the organization, the more aggression-inclined bounty hunters that were brought in made for little better of an image than the pirates had before. Likewise, scenes of a Trueman-Hunters Cutlass gathering salvaged debris and ship modules after having destroyed one of their targets gave the public another sour-tasting image of the ship.

While the public image agreement between the two companies did not continue to serve it’s original purpose, the choice of ships used by Trueman-Hunters did invariably shift to Drake Interplanetary products. Today, they continue to be one of Drake’s top customers, and are even consulted when making new additions and modifications to the upcoming line of Drake ships.

In the century since it’s founding, Trueman-Hunters has branched out into marketing and mercenary work. Often it is the very modules and equipment taken from their bounty and contract targets that are sold, but really anything that increases revenue is fair game. While the founders may not be happy with how the company has shifted it’s goals, Trueman-Hunters still serves it’s purpose of protecting innocent people in human systems.
