The Oath of Silent Light

They trace their origins to the late 28th century, during the height of the Messer Era when propaganda and state control smothered the Empire. A group of deep-space explorers vanished after transiting through an unstable jump point near the Nyx system. Decades later, their descendants re-emerged, changed — pale, soft-spoken, and convinced they had “heard” the universe itself speaking in the void.

They called this revelation The Silent Light: a paradox of illumination without voice, knowledge without sound.

Members of the sect believe that every quantum jump brings them closer to communion with this Silent Light. Their rituals often involve traveling through jump points in complete silence, sometimes deliberately cutting comms to “hear” the cosmos. Outsiders whisper that some initiates never return, lost to the pull of whatever lies between known systems.

Within UEE records, they are marked as a “fringe spiritual movement”, tolerated but watched — especially since they have attempted pilgrimages into Vanduul-controlled space, claiming the alien incursions are part of the Light’s divine plan.

Their symbol is a broken star, haloed in faint radiance — the last sight, they say, one sees before transcendence.
