Old spacers have a saying: you can outrun the police, you can outgun the Navy . . . but you can’t escape the Marines.
The Marines were initially kept under the umbrella of the UPE Army’s command structure, they weren’t officially separated and formed as their own division until the end of the First Tevarin War. The UPE felt that they needed a consolidated special operations force that commanded the best of both the Army and the Navy. Their focus and primary application became planetary invasion. Marine units are specialized to be weapons of warfare, nothing more. They don’t handle diplomatic escorts or pull guard duty, they dust things. When the Imperator doesn’t need them, the Marines sequester themselves to their planet-bases on Corin (Kilian system) and train for the next conflict that will require their services.
Marine-Candidates are selected from the general pool of Army and Navy recruits. The criterion for selection is unknown and inconsistent at best. Some speculate that it is intentional to cement the fact that you don’t apply to be a Marine.
Unlike other UEE forces, Marines do not deploy indiscriminately. An on-duty Marine Reservist either returns to Corin for training or is actively engaged in a combat operation. Marines do not protect convoys, interdict pirates or garrison jump points: they invade planets, strike back at the Vanduul and personally protect the Imperator .

As a Marine Reservist you’ll be an elite member of a force who combine their civilian jobs with serving as part-time, fully trained troopers. Just like regular Marines, you’ll learn to deploy your skills in any location, environment and terrain.

Profile:
The United Empire of Earth Marines Reserve (UEEMR) is the volunteer reserve force used to augment the regular Marines in times of war or crisis. The Marines Reserve consists of those regular Marines who do not wish to completely end their service to the UEE after their active duty oath has been obligated. A Marine discharged with honor into the civilian workforce can request to return to the Marines Reserve. A limited number of separating active service veterans with outstanding performance records from the Navy and Army are also invited to Marine training to fill up Reserve slots. All the volunteers within the UEEMR must pass through the same rigorous course as the regular duty Marines. Additionally, unlike other branches of the UEE military that are discharged after service, all Marines are automatically transferred to inactive reserve status for a period of [REDACTED] years.

- I am a United Empire of Earth Marine, a member of the elite!
- Recognizing it is my choice and my choice alone to be a Marine, I accept all hazards and challenges involved with this profession. I will forever strive to maintain the tremendous reputation of those who went before me.
- I will exceed beyond normal limitations. I will sacrifice personal comforts and dedicate myself to the completion of our mission. I will keep my mind and body clean, alert and strong, for this is my debt to those who depend upon me. I will maintain myself, my arms, and my equipment in an immaculate state as befits a Marine.
- I will never quit. To quit, to surrender or to give up is to fail. To be a Marine is to surpass failure; to overcome, to adapt and to do whatever it takes to complete the mission. I will strive always, to excel in every art and artifice of war. My goal is to succeed in any mission – and live to succeed again.
- I will do all that the Empire requires of me. I will fight wherever is required. I will not bring shame upon myself or the Legatus Marinuum. I will not fail those with whom I serve. I will never surrender though I be the last.
- I am a member of the Imperator’s chosen elite; I will not fail his trust.

The Marines Ethos has three components:

Oppurtunities
UEE Marine Combat Pilot:
The UEE Marines may be famed for its assault troops, but this branch of the United Empire of Earth also has a flight wing, including fighter pilots who fly such state-of-the-art fighters as the Anvil Aerospace Hornet, Aegis Dynamics Vanguard and Sabre. The Marines also operate their own capital ships, drop ships, etc., as they conduct missions completely separate from UEE Navy and Army forces. Qualifying to be a Marine pilot means meeting not just a series of strict standards to get into the Marines itself, but the even higher standards befitting an elite member of the military. Once a candidate has met the requirement for a pilot officer, he or she must undergo extensive specialized and classified flight training.
UEE Marine Combat Trooper (“Star Marine”):
UEE Marine troopers, are organized, trained and equipped to deploy for highly classified missions in the far reaches of space as directed by the Legatus Marinuum. The elite Marine Combat Battalions are made up of personnel uniquely capable of Special Operations against any type of threat in any type of environment. The training to become a “Star Marine” is, according to the Marines, “the most extensive and arduous training in all of the UEE military.”
