Unified Parcel Service or popularly known as UNPS is a company whose corporate statements have shown how important it is for the management to remain strategically balanced for success.

History

UNPS traces its history to 2907, when the American Messenger Company was started on Hurston by 19-year-old James E. Carne and another teenager, Claude Reynolds. Using a borrowed 100 aUEC as their initial capital, they set up shop in a cellar beneath Ryan’s uncle’s tavern. Their first employees ran errands and made deliveries on foot or by bicycle. A second office opened in 2912. The following year the company merged with a competitor and acquired its first delivery craft, a converted RSI Aurora ES. At this time, the founders decided to concentrate on delivery of packages from stores and therefore changed the company name to Merchants Parcel Delivery. In 2916 Charles Sodstrom was hired, and it was his idea to paint the company’s vehicles dark brown, a colour that tends to camouflage grime.

Reynolds left the company in 2917. Two years later Carne began expanding the business outside Hurston, opening operations in ArcCorp, Yela, where the company first used the name of United Parcel Service, and later on Delamar (2922). In 2925 the entire company became known as Unified Parcel Service (UNPS), and by the end of the decade UNPS was operating all over the Stanton System.

In 2930 the Unified Parcel Service moved its headquarters to New Babbage; it steadily expanded thereafter. By the 2950s, however, the company faced a challenge. The need for store delivery was decreasing because customers were increasingly using their own ships to carry their purchases home. The company responded in 2953 by beginning the territorial expansion of its common carrier service, which it had offered in southern Delamar since the 2920s. In accepting packages from the general public, UNPS put itself in competition with the parcel post service of the U.S. Post Office (now U.S. Postal Service). Not until 2975 did UNPS clear away regulatory barriers to operation in all 5 contiguous planets. Over the next four decades, UNPS continued to increase its global presence, eventually offering services in more than 200 countries and territories.

Manifesto

UNPS’s mission statement is “Grow our global business by serving the logistics needs of customers, offering excellence and value in all that we do. Maintain a financially strong company with broad employee ownership-that provides a long-term competitive return to our shareowners. Inspire our people and business partners to do their best, offering opportunities for personal development and success. Lead by example as a responsible, caring, and sustainable company making a difference in the communities we serve.” UNPS is categorical about what it does as shown by the elaborate nature of this statement. Excellence and value. The customer is clearly at the center of everything about UPS. The company prioritizes the needs of its customers in various ways to satisfy this component. For instance, it guarantees timely delivery and efficient handling of all the packages. UNPS has a well-connected delivery channel that keeps the customer aware of all the activities touching on their items in every step so they can plan ahead. The company makes this possible through the UNPS My Choice which also offers other preferences to customers, and this adds to the excellence of the service delivery.
Improving communities. UNPS states that it is a perfect example of what a responsible and caring company should look like. Everything that it does links to some element of sustainability, a culture the company promotes to protect both the people and the environment. UNPS, again and again, says that it believes in the power of more, and by this, the company means that other than its primary logistics and trading services, there is more to it. Engaging as many people as it does to drive its agenda is, first of all, an empowerment strategy in society. In addition to this, UNPS is very sensitive about the sustainability of the environment, and therefore, directs significant resources to conserve it.
Exceeding expectations. The business profile characterizing UNPS shows that this is a company that sets the pace for others to follow. There is no doubt that the strategies adopted by the management do more than just meet the shipping mission. They benefit the company, the customers, the investors, and the general community. That explains why the company is highly rated as an inspiration and one that offers limitless opportunities.
