Vance’s first venture was as a freelance mercenary, offering his expertise to corporations and factions willing to pay for results, regardless of the legal or ethical implications. As his network of like-minded ex-military professionals grew, Vance formally established Unstable Element in 2924. One of their first major contracts came in 2928 when they were hired to neutralize a Vanduul supply chain that was feeding into a high-priority UEE military target. Unstable Element carried out the mission with precision, leading to a public display of their capabilities and securing their reputation in the growing private military contractor (PMC) space.

However, it was in the Banu Protectorate during the early 2930s that the PMC’s name truly became known. Unstable Element was hired by a covert faction within the Banu to assist in eliminating a renegade pirate faction that was threatening Banu merchant routes. The operation, codenamed “Broken Circuit”, was a textbook example of Unstable Element’s ruthless efficiency — but also highlighted their tendency to operate in grey legal areas. They employed tactics that included covert infiltration, selective assassinations, and the deliberate destruction of vital infrastructure. This contract was pivotal in the organization’s evolution, drawing the attention of larger corporate interests and governments, who sought out their specialized services.

By the late 2930s, Unstable Element had expanded operations into several systems, including Pyro, Nyx, and Croshaw, where they began to engage in more controversial operations. One of the organization’s most notorious actions occurred in 2940 during the Pyro Crisis when Unstable Element was hired by an anonymous party to “pacify” a system-wide rebellion that was spreading across the Pyro system. In a series of brutal operations, Unstable Element’s forces systematically eliminated key insurgent leaders, quashed resistance efforts, and protected the shipping lanes crucial to illicit trading operations in the system. Their success in this mission brought them significant notoriety, but also a large degree of disdain from more lawful factions, including the UEE Navy and the UEE Advocacy, who began to investigate the organization for possible ties to criminal syndicates and terrorist organizations.

However, their involvement with several shady organizations during these years caught the attention of multiple factions, including the Crusader Security Force and the Advocacy, leading to numerous investigations and surveillance operations. Unstable Element had to operate more carefully, pulling off high-risk, high-reward contracts while maintaining plausible deniability in the face of increasing scrutiny.
The turning point came in 2948 when Lucius Vance was assassinated under mysterious circumstances. While the circumstances of his death remain unclear, rumors suggest that it was either a political hit by a rival PMC or a revenge strike by one of the many enemies Unstable Element had made over the years. Despite his death, the organization was able to maintain its operations, though it led to some restructuring. Leadership shifted to The Council, a group of former special operations commanders who had been working within the organization since its early years.

Charter

I. Mission and Purpose

Unstable Element exists to operate as a private military contractor (PMC), offering specialized military and paramilitary services to a wide range of clients, irrespective of their political, legal, or ethical standings. The core purpose of UE is to provide the highest level of strategic operations, specializing in unconventional warfare, covert actions, and missions that exist outside the bounds of traditional military engagement.

The organization is dedicated to achieving results, regardless of the legal, political, or moral implications, and will accept contracts that require the use of both innovative and aggressive tactics. The overarching objective is to shape the balance of power within the galaxy, influencing outcomes where others fail to act.

We are a “friends first” organization, we will only accept people who can work well within the group, and we will not sacrifice the many to keep the one. All genders, sexes, and religions are welcome within the org. Drama, hate, and disrespect will not be tolerated.

II. Organizational Structure

Leadership

The Council: A collective group of senior officers who participate in decision-making. The Council oversees different sectors of operations, such as covert warfare, extraction missions, sabotage, and intelligence gathering. The council also manages client relations and the financial stability of UE.
Sub-Council: These officers are responsible for overseeing active military operations in the field. Each Sub-Council member is in charge of specific units and ensures that missions are executed according to the directives issued by The Council.

Recruitment and Membership

Eligibility: All members of UE must demonstrate combat skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the gray areas of warfare. Prior military service or relevant experience is highly preferred, but not required. All recruits are vetted to ensure group cohesion. We are an adult 18+ org.
Code of Conduct: All members are expected to adhere to the Org Rules & Code of Conduct outlined in detail within our Discord. Any violation of the Rules or Code of Conduct may result in immediate expulsion or termination.
Initiation: Upon recruitment, new members undergo a period of evaluation and training, where they are introduced to the organization’s operations and philosophies. This phase ensures that they understand the nature of the work and the boundaries they must operate within.
