Unstable Element: A tight-knit PMC operating in the gray area of legality. We prioritize friendship and camaraderie while taking on high-risk contracts. Expect both lawful and illicit operations. Join us if you’re ready for the thrill. We host weekly events and light role-play opportunities.
Unstable Element was founded in 2920 by a former UEE Navy officer, Commander Lucius Vance, whose career was abruptly cut short due to a highly classified mission gone awry. Vance, disillusioned with the rigid structure and political entanglements of the UEE, left the Navy and sought to capitalize on his experience in high-stakes, black-ops military operations.
Vance’s first venture was as a freelance mercenary, offering his expertise to corporations and factions willing to pay for results, regardless of the legal or ethical implications. He quickly built a reputation for getting the job done — but often in ways that blurred the lines of legality. As his network of like-minded ex-military professionals grew, Vance formally established Unstable Element in 2924. The name was a reflection of their operational style: unpredictable, unconventional, and often operating on the edge of the law.
During the mid-2920s, Unstable Element focused on smaller, high-risk operations, often securing contracts from corporations like Drake Interplanetary, Hurston Dynamics, and some of the more morally ambiguous megacorporations operating in the Stanton system. They specialized in private military operations that often involved sabotage, corporate espionage, and paramilitary enforcement, though they were also hired to provide security for high-profile clients or engage in delicate extraction missions.
One of their first major contracts came in 2928 when they were hired to neutralize a Vanduul supply chain that was feeding into a high-priority UEE military target. Unstable Element carried out the mission with precision, leading to a public display of their capabilities and securing their reputation in the growing private military contractor (PMC) space.
However, it was in the Banu Protectorate during the early 2930s that the PMC’s name truly became known. Unstable Element was hired by a covert faction within the Banu to assist in eliminating a renegade pirate faction that was threatening Banu merchant routes. The operation, codenamed “Broken Circuit”, was a textbook example of Unstable Element’s ruthless efficiency — but also highlighted their tendency to operate in grey legal areas. They employed tactics that included covert infiltration, selective assassinations, and the deliberate destruction of vital infrastructure. This contract was pivotal in the organization’s evolution, drawing the attention of larger corporate interests and governments, who sought out their specialized services.
By the late 2930s, Unstable Element had expanded operations into several systems, including Pyro, Nyx, and Croshaw, where they began to engage in more controversial operations. Their services were now in high demand, though many of their contracts had to be conducted under the radar. In these years, they often worked with or for criminal organizations, cartel groups, and even powerful private individuals whose operations required a veil of plausible deniability.
One of the organization’s most notorious actions occurred in 2940 during the Pyro Crisis when Unstable Element was hired by an anonymous party to “pacify” a system-wide rebellion that was spreading across the Pyro system. In a series of brutal operations, Unstable Element’s forces systematically eliminated key insurgent leaders, quashed resistance efforts, and protected the shipping lanes crucial to illicit trading operations in the system. Their success in this mission brought them significant notoriety, but also a large degree of disdain from more lawful factions, including the UEE Navy and the UEE Advocacy, who began to investigate the organization for possible ties to criminal syndicates and terrorist organizations.
Despite the controversy, Unstable Element continued to thrive. They adopted a more structured, professional approach, creating specialized divisions for different types of operations: covert ops, sabotage, extraction, and even full-scale private military engagements. They also began offering “protective services” to businesses operating in more volatile parts of the galaxy, and it was during this period that they began to develop a highly lucrative clientele within the Corruption Belt — a group of sectors in the Stanton System notorious for being rife with criminal enterprises and corporate espionage.
In 2945, Unstable Element found itself at the center of a major political and military storm. The Vanduul were intensifying their raids, and the UEE, unable to fully commit resources due to ongoing conflicts, started to lean heavily on private military contractors to fill the gaps. Unstable Element was hired by several major corporations to fortify UEE outposts and civilian colonies, offering their tactical expertise to protect against growing Vanduul incursions.
However, their involvement with several shady organizations during these years caught the attention of multiple factions, including the Crusader Security Force and the Advocacy, leading to numerous investigations and surveillance operations. Unstable Element had to operate more carefully, pulling off high-risk, high-reward contracts while maintaining plausible deniability in the face of increasing scrutiny.
The turning point came in 2948 when Lucius Vance was assassinated under mysterious circumstances. While the circumstances of his death remain unclear, rumors suggest that it was either a political hit by a rival PMC or a revenge strike by one of the many enemies Unstable Element had made over the years. Despite his death, the organization was able to maintain its operations, though it led to some restructuring. Leadership shifted to The Council, a group of former special operations commanders who had been working within the organization since its early years.
Under the Council’s leadership, Unstable Element has evolved into one of the most formidable and feared PMCs in the galaxy, operating on the fringes of legality but maintaining a semblance of professionalism and military discipline. They are known for accepting high-risk, high-reward contracts — particularly in systems with unstable political climates or significant military interest.
Despite its growing reputation, Unstable Element has managed to avoid major legal crackdowns due to its skilled use of subterfuge and deniability. While many of their operations remain classified or go unnoticed by the public, their presence in the dark underbelly of the galaxy is undeniable. They are frequently seen working for the highest bidder, whether that be a criminal syndicate, an arms manufacturer, or a government looking to remove an inconvenient rival.
In the current era, Unstable Element has become an organization capable of shifting the balance of power across entire systems. Their reputation as both mercenaries and ghosts of war ensures that they will continue to be a driving force in the galaxy, operating in the grey areas where most fear to tread.
We, the Unstable Element, operate in the shadows of galactic history. Our presence is a whisper in the wind, a fleeting shadow that leaves no mark unless we choose to leave one. We are not bound by the laws of systems or the whims of weak governments. The battlefield is not defined by borders; it is defined by those who dare to shape it. Where others see chaos, we see opportunity.
The universe is volatile, and in that volatility, we thrive. We operate where others fear to tread — the grey area between right and wrong, between order and disorder. We are the pulse that keeps the galaxy alive, the unseen force that influences the ebb and flow of power.
The galaxy is a world of shifting allegiances, unyielding corporations, and fragile political structures. The strong prey on the weak, and the powerful maintain their status through manipulation and force. We do not conform to these rules. We exist in the cracks, beyond the reach of bureaucracy, beyond the dictates of laws and treaties.
We are the sword and the shield, the dagger in the dark, the whisper behind the closed door. We fight not for the ideals of nations, but for the people who understand that the galaxy is not black and white. It is the spectrum between them that defines the future. In the grey, we are the masters.
Our allegiance lies with those who pay the price for results, not with ideologies or political causes. We do not serve the weak. We serve the strong, the clever, and the ambitious. We are hired for our skill, feared for our ruthlessness, and respected for our discretion.
We do not fight like traditional armies. We do not march in uniform ranks or sing songs of honor. Our tactics are subtle, our strategies fluid, our methods as diverse as the enemies we face. Where others fail, we succeed — not by sheer force, but by ingenuity, adaptability, and a deep understanding of human nature.
We are the architects of instability. The missions we undertake are not merely about victory; they are about creating a new order, one where our clients’ goals are achieved, regardless of the collateral damage. We sow uncertainty, disrupt power structures, and create the conditions under which new powers rise. We do not take sides — we take results. The price of stability is chaos.
Our tactics range from covert sabotage to brutal extraction, from psychological warfare to the art of assassination. We exploit the weaknesses of our enemies and turn them into advantages. No target is too secure, no operation too dangerous. Where others hesitate, we act.
We answer to no one but our own. The contracts we accept are not bound by morality or political agendas, but by the agreements we make with our clients. Our only rule is this: the mission is paramount. No matter the cost, no matter the consequences, the job will be completed. We do not abandon our work, and we do not leave our clients wanting.
Our loyalty lies with the objective — with the task at hand. Betrayal is anathema to our creed; our reputation is built on trust, not promises. If you hire us, you hire results. If you betray us, we become your greatest nightmare.
We operate on a foundation of mutual respect. There is no room for weakness, for hesitation, or for mercy. We are not a military force with a code of honor; we are mercenaries who understand the value of pragmatism. We hold no allegiance to nations, no loyalty to the law, and no mercy for those who stand in our way.
The universe will continue to change. The chaos will grow, and with it, the opportunities. We will remain the unseen hand that influences the course of history. Governments will rise and fall, corporations will shift alliances, and new threats will emerge from the edges of the galaxy. But we will be here — shaping the course of events from the shadows.
We will continue to operate in the grey areas where others fear to venture, forging alliances with those who know that the game is played in secret. We will thrive where the law cannot reach, carving out territories for ourselves where few dare to enter. And when the time comes, we will strike with precision, with knowledge, and with the unwavering certainty that our cause is the only one that matters: victory, at any cost.
We are the Unstable Element. We are the harbingers of change. We are the force that the galaxy will never understand, but will always fear.
History will remember us, not as mere mercenaries or soldiers of fortune, but as the architects of the galaxy’s evolution. We are the pulse of the future, the creators of instability, the ones who make things happen when others hesitate. Through our actions, we will shape the destiny of the galaxy — not through the power of politics, but through the power of force, discretion, and the willingness to do what others cannot.
We will leave our mark on the universe. And it will be one of unpredictability, of chaos, and of calculated power.
We are Unstable Element.
And we are here to stay.

All payments must be secured before the start of any mission, and failure to fulfill payment obligations will result in an immediate cessation of services.
No Loyalty Beyond the Objective: Our allegiance is to the mission and to those who hire us. We will not engage in operations motivated by personal ideology or belief. We are not mercenaries fighting for causes — we are professionals executing the will of those who pay for results.
Uncompromising Integrity: Although we operate in the gray, we do not compromise on our core values of professionalism and operational excellence. A betrayal of these values will not be tolerated.
Exploitation of Weakness: We acknowledge that power is seized, not given. We will always seek to exploit the vulnerabilities of our enemies, clients, and allies to ensure our continued dominance in the operational space. Weakness in others is an opportunity for UE.
